SWGoH: Best Mods for B2 Super Battle Droid

B2 Super Battle Droid - SWGoH

Welcome to the B2 Super Battle Droid mods guide, the latest article in a series about Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for individual characters. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every toon I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations based on the character’s kit and actual gameplay to help you in your quest to dominate the Galaxy of Heroes holotables.

B2 Super Battle Droid - SWGoHToday’s toon to review mods for is one of the earliest must have toons in the game, B2 Super Battle Droid. In the early days B2 was locked in chromium bundles, he has luckily been farmable in Cantina node 6D for well over a year now. B2 is a tank who soaks up damage and turns it into Turn Meter and in return strips the enemy of buffs. His key abilities are the now two uniques that he has thanks to the Separatist Droid changes of February 2019. That is when we saw General Grievous and IG-100 MagnaGuard also get reworks while B1 Battle Droid and Droideka were first added to SWGoH. His unique, Relentless Barrage, gives him a 40% chance to gain a full 100% turn meter whenever an ally has their attack evaded or an ally takes damage. Meanwhile, his Reactive Protocol unique has a 40% chance to reduce B2’s cooldowns by 1 whenever a Separatist ally (not just Separatist Droids) is evaded or damaged by an attack. And if you add the Zeta his Separatist Droid allies gain 5% Turn Meter whenever B2 inflicts a rebuff on his enemies.

Main Focus: Potency is the key to making the B2 Super Battle Droid’s kit effective, so load up and shoot for 90% Potency or higher. Potency is very important given both his basic and special benefit from high Potency and his new unique Reactive Protocol grants his Separatist Droid allies gain 5% Turn Meter whenever B2 inflicts a debuff on his enemies (with a Zeta). Thus, you want the B2 Super Battle Droid inflicting debuffs early and often. A Potency set or two at minimum will be needed as well as a Plus/Cross mod with a Potency primary to make those debuffs stick.

Additional Areas to Focus: Tenacity and survivability. Very few characters need Tenacity as much as the B2 Super Battle Droid. Turn Meter gains are the key to his effectiveness and the reason you do not need Speed on this character, so ensuring the Daze debuff does not get placed over his head is highly important. While this will vary from battle to battle, shoot for 60% Tenacity at minimum, and ideally over 80%, to help fight off those detrimental effects. B2 doesn’t hit for big damage either so some good Offense secondaries are a nice bonus but not essential as he’s really a big debuff bot. Finally, you want as much survivability as possible with the B2 Super Battle Droid. Survivability is typically defined as Health, Protection and Defense, but in this case a Critical Avoidance arrow with the ideal secondary stats would be a great play for this unit. In a perfect world I would have a +35% Crit Avoidance primary with +2% (or higher) Potency, +2% (or higher) Tenacity and a nice boost in Health, Protection, Defense or Speed as well.

Speed Priority: 3/10 – Since Speed is such a necessary evil in SWGoH, I am adding a Speed Priority stat to help players better prioritize their Speed mods and other mods with high Speed secondary stats. B2, like his Separatist Droid teammate Droideka, is a character that is actually more effective with less Speed given his Turn Meter gains, so focus your secondary stats on high Tenacity and Protection instead of Speed.

In-game Mod Recommendations: Potency. While this seeming general “Potency” recommendation is missing the higher-level gameplay insight, that is exactly why the devs put that as the in-game recommendation and why you are reading this article – to better understand SWGoH and how it works. For a more dynamic and more effective B2, I suggest you read our recommendations above.

Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH B2 Super Battle Droid:

B2 is a unique character in Galaxy of Heroes that can be a real pain in the butt for the competition if modded well, so I recommend shooting for a two sets of two Potency mods and a set of two Tenacity mods with the secondary stats that support the above content. If you have these with high secondary stats, and ideally without Speed to use on other characters,  you should be in a good spot. Thus, here is my preferred mod setup for the B2 Super Battle Droid:

  • Transmitter (Square) – Potency mod with an offense primary and a secondary focus on potency, protection, health and tenacity
  • Receiver (Arrow) – Potency mod with a primary focus on (based on your best available mod for the secondary stats) either critical avoidance, defense, health or protection and a secondary focus on potency, tenacity and ideally health, protection, defense or speed
  • Processor (Diamond) – Tenacity mod with a defense primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and offense
  • Holo-Array (Triangle) – Potency mod with a health, protection or defense primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and tenacity
  • Data-Bus (Circle) – Tenacity mod with a protection primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and tenacity
  • Multiplexer (Plus) – Potency mod with a potency primary and a secondary focus on tenacity, health, protection and offense

Note: Transmitter, Processor and Data-Bus mods are MUCH more common. If you can maximize the stats from these using a MK V, Tier A mod that is ideal.
