SWGoH New Character Proposal: Scout Trooper, Sandtrooper, and AT-ST Driver

SCOUT TROOPER

The following is from Wookieepedia: “Preceded by the clone scout troopers of the Galactic Republic, scout troopers provided excellent long-range fire for their stormtrooper counterparts. Scout troopers notably protected the SLD-26 planetary shield generator (which protected the construction of the Death Star II over the forest moon of Endor) since the remoteness of the shield bunker necessitated speeder bikes and the thick forest environment demanded quick reflexes to traverse the landscape at high speeds. Equipped with light armor for greater mobility and optics in their helmets that allowed faster reaction times when piloting speeder bikes, scout troopers were expert marksmen, trained in reconnaissance and infiltration as well as additional independence and adaptability than most Imperial troops.”

Scout Trooper

Dark Side, Empire, Imperial Trooper, Attacker

Power: 8655     Health: 17,000     Speed: 135     Max Damage: 6100

Basic: Imperial Sharpshooter

Deal physical damage to target enemy and inflict Buff Immunity for 2 turns. This attack deals double damage against Rebel and Ewok enemies. If this scores a Critical hit, Buff Immunity cannot be dispelled.

Special: Enemy Sighted

Cooldown – 3

Deal special damage to all enemies and call a random Imperial Trooper ally to assist. In addition, Scout Trooper gains Evasion Up for 1 turn for each enemy Critically Hit. If at least 1 enemy was defeated by this attack, dispel all buffs from all enemies.

Special: Military Might

Cooldown – 4

Grant all Empire allies 50% Turn Meter and +5% Turn Meter for each debuffed enemy. This ignores any current negative status effects on allies. In addition, Scout Trooper gains Speed Up and Retribution for 2 turns if he has no debuffs.

Unique: Speeder Bike Chase

Scout Trooper has +10 Speed for each living empire ally, has a 25% chance to call a random Imperial Trooper ally to assist on his Basic attack, and grants Foresight for 2 turns to an empire ally if they attack a Taunting enemy.

Move Set Explanation:

Special: Military Might

This ignores Daze and Shock.

 

Unique: Speeder Bike Chase

If all allies are Empire, this could get his Speed up to 175.

 

SANDTROOPER

The following is from Wookieepedia: “Sandtroopers were stormtroopers equipped to operate on desert worlds. Their armor was augmented with cooling fans and a helmet sand filter. In addition, they wore a survival backpack stocked with extra rations and water. A detachment of Sandtroopers were dispatched to the surface of the planet Tatooine, where they searched for the missing Death Star plans. During the search, some troopers utilized the native Dewbacks as mounts.”

Power: 8120     Health: 19,600     Speed: 120     Max Damage: 5380

Basic: E-11 Blaster Rifle

Deal physical damage to target enemy with a 80% chance to inflict Ability Block for 2 turns. If they already have Ability Block, dispel all buffs on them.

Special: Imperial Detonators

Cooldown – 3

Place a thermal detonator on all enemies that explode after 1 turn with a 25% chance to place another one for each living Imperial Trooper ally. This cannot be resisted by Rebel or Scoundrel enemies as long as there is a living Empire Leader. Explosions from each thermal detonator have a 50% chance to randomly place one of the following debuffs for 2 turns: Ability Block, Buff Immunity, Critical Chance Down, Critical Damage Down, Damage Over Time, Defense Down, Evasion Down, Health Down, Offense Down, Speed Down, Tenacity Down.

Special: Reprisal of the Imperial Army

Cooldown – 4

Deal special damage to target enemy with a 65% chance to inflict Speed Down for 2 turns. If the target is a Rebel, then call a random Imperial Trooper ally to assist. If they are suffering any negative status effects, then call a random Empire ally to assist. If a Critical Hit is scored by Sandtrooper, then inflict Tenacity Down for 2 turns. If by an Imperial Trooper ally, then inflict Damage Over Time for 2 turns. If by an Empire ally, then inflict 2 Damage Over Time for 2 turns. This ability stats on cooldown.

Unique: Move Along

Sandtrooper has +40% Counter Chance. This is doubled if he is Critically Hit or attacked by a Rebel enemy. In addition, Sandtrooper gains +15% Potency, Tenacity, Critical Chance, Speed, and Health Steal for each living Empire ally. He also has +20% Offense and Defense for each living Imperial Trooper ally.

Move Set Explanation:

Special: Imperial Detonators

It would be nice if they fixed all of the characters with detonators to stick to an enemy acting as at attack rather than a debuff that avoids Tenacity (and Tenacity Up) at all costs. I’m sick of how easily resisted and dodged they are. This would make Boba Fett Leader ability better too along with all Bounty Hunter teams, but I digress. It would be fun to see these detonators in an Empire squad, especially with a zVader lead. Hopefully they fix the issue soon.

 

Special: Reprisal of the Imperial Army

This could possibly inflict 3 DoTs as well as Tenacity Down. Keep in mind though, if allies are Dazed then it’s a weakness. Also, it is possible that the second assisting ally is also an Imperial Trooper – especially if you’re running a team of only Imperial Troopers (excluding Krennic, Vader, Palp, Tarkin, Royal Guard, etc).

AT-ST DRIVER

The following is from Wookieepedia: “AT-ST drivers, also called AT-ST pilots,[2] were Imperial Army combat drivers specialized in operating the All Terrain Scout Transport. Largely pulled from the human species, two AT-ST pilots were trained to be primarily responsible for keeping an AT-ST walker moving at speed through uneven terrain, utilizing its offensive capabilities for reconnaissance and anti-personnel hunting missions. AT-ST pilots wore one-piece light grey jumpsuits with basic armor plating underneath[3] and Imperial crests on both shoulders.[1] The drivers’ feet were protected by a pair of calf-high black boots, and their hands by fire-resistant black gauntlets.

*Although they were not expected to replace standard ground-based infantry, AT-ST drivers carried blasters, grenades, thermal detonators, emergency flares and a comlink in case of emergency.

AT-ST Driver

Dark Side, Empire, Imperial Trooper, Attacker

Power: 7965     Health: 13,785     Speed: 144     Max Damage: 5600

Basic: They’re on the Run!

Deal physical damage to target enemy and inflict Defense Down for 2 turns. This attack is guaranteed a Critical Hit against Rebel enemies. AT-ST Driver has a 50% chance to gain 30% Turn Meter.

Special: AT-ST Attack

Cooldown – 4

Deal special damage to all enemies with a 80% chance to inflict Expose for 2 turns. If the enemy is a Rebel then inflict 2 Damage Over Time for 2 turns. AT-ST Driver has a 30% chance per Critical Hit to gain 40% Turn Meter.

Special: Intimidation Tactics

Cooldown – 3

Deal special damage to target enemy with a 70% chance to inflict Stagger for 2 turns, guaranteed against Light Side enemies. AT-ST Driver has a 25% chance for each buff on him to remove 100% Turn Meter from the target enemy.

Unique: Trooper Cover Fire

Each time AT-ST Driver gains Turn Meter from an effect, there is a 50% chance to call a random Empire ally to assist, doubled if they are Imperial Trooper. If that ally scores a Critical Hit then they gain Retribution for 2 turns.

Move Set Explanation:

Special: AT-ST Attack

The animation for this should obviously be multiple shots of two giant laser bolt blasts from an AT-ST “overhead” just like how Tarkin’s “Ultimate Firepower”, TIE Fighter Pilot’s “TIE Strike”, Lando’s “Double Down”, Veers’ “Ruthless Assaulth” and various other examples all come from behind them.

 

Special: Intimidation Tactics

The animation should be one fully “charged” shot from both of the AT-ST canons standing just “overhead” of the AT-ST Driver.
