Star Wars Battlefront: Emperor Palpatine Gameplay & Showcase

Emperor Palpatine

Scheming, powerful, and evil to the core, Darth Sidious restored the Sith and destroyed the Jedi Order. Living a double life, Sidious was in fact Palpatine, a Naboo Senator and phantom menace. He slowly manipulated the political system of the Galactic Republic until he was named Supreme Chancellor — and eventually Emperor — ruling the galaxy through fear and tyranny.

Overview

Emperor Palpatine is a playable character for the Empire in EA’s Star Wars Battlefront. He is one of the three heroes in the game able to spawn bodyguards.

Palpatine, despite looking old and weak, is armed with a variety of support abilities to help the Empire in battle. He can also use the force to block blaster bolts and lightsaber strikes.

Abilities

Palpatine has these abilities:

Force Lightning– A powerful ability that stuns enemies. The ability is short ranged.

Chain Lightning– Lightning chains between enemies that are grouped together.

Force Dash– Palpatine quickly dashes in the direction he is moving. Useful for getting into or out of battle. This ability is seen in Revenge of the Sith.

Imperial Resources– A support ability that drops powerups for imperial players. In Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Hunt this ability spawns hero health which can be used by a hero to heal themselves.

Flight– Instead of jumping, Palpatine hovers off the ground similar to Vader. Force Dash can be used with this ability to reach greater heights.

Bodyguards

Imperial players can spawn in as Royal Guards to protect Palpatine. They are equipped with a T-21 Heavy Blaster, Smart Rocket, and Homing Shot. The guards get reduced cooldowns when near Palpatine. A maximum of two guards can be on the battlefield at the same time.

Trait

Palpatine was given a passive trait in the Rogue One: Scarif DLC. Palpatine’s trait is called The Master and gives him an increased amount of lightning sustainability with each kill. As Palpatine gets kills he is able to use his main lightning attack for longer periods of time. This lets Palpatine use his lightning to his full extent against groups of enemies making him a greater threat in battle.

How I Use Emperor Palpatine

Palpatine is one of my favorite characters in Star Wars so I love to play as him in Battlefront. I find the best tactic to be hit-and-run. Hoping into the battle, unleashing force lightning, and escaping to heal yourself. This allows Palpatine to do great damage over a long period of time while staying alive.
