TFEW: Best Power Core for Optimus Prime & Megatron

TFEW - Power Cores

Welcome to the first in a series of articles about the Transformers Earth Wars mobile game where we take a look at the best Power Cores for each bot. While our staff will never claim to have all of the answers for TFEW, we do our homework and test out each bot to ensure we are making only the best recommendations.

TFEW - Power CoresToday’s bots to review Power Cores for are Optimus Prime & Megatron. Optimus Prime and Megatron are some of the most sought after, high level bots in the game. Although every player obtains their 2-star versions for free through the beginning campaign, the Inspiring Charge ability remains a powerful addition to many teams on all variants of the characters. It is generally utilized to guide your forces to the enemy’s headquarters building or out of harm’s way! Even the 2-star variant can be useful for those without access to higher levels. Optimus Prime and Megatron are characterized by having close to the highest HP (each ranked 4th for their respective sides in 3-star/4-star tiers, the current best 5-star in terms of HP). In short, they are built to take a beating.

Utilizing Inspring Charge appropriately (potentially multiple times) can allow you to bypass defenses in “Time Trap” style bases or poorly constructed bases. The honeycomb base architecture significantly slows down bots and can cause you to waste significant amounts of time (a precious resource!) in attempting to defeat a base as many of your non-ranged bots need to chew through walls to get through to the buildings within, however the “OP Rush” strategy continues to be applicable at almost every level of play in TFEW today.

Best Power Core for Optimus Prime & Megatron:

G1 Optimus Prime / G1 Megatron – Increasing HP allows charges deeper into the enemy base after being stunned and taking a beating. Often times, a base will have defenses that will stun Prime / Megatron as they charges to the target. Since sometimes you will need to charge a second time into the base, they need to survive to get in a second charge and attract defenses away from your other forces, which the invulnerability provided by this core does. When designing a base, players will also often place a “stun mine” at points where Prime and Megatron would charge through or by, so this core can be extremely useful. One reason this to consider this core over the tactician core is that current base designs often prevent a good initial charge, even with the Tactician core. If you disagree or if the “base meta” changes, then this G1 core is your best option!

Other Core Options:  Tactician Core, Vector Prime, Liege Maximo

G1 Power Core – The G1 Power Core for Optimus Prime (Silver) reads “when your health drops below 30%, you become invulnerable to damage and stun effects for 5.1 seconds” before being leveled up. Leveling the Silver Core up increases the amount of time with Level 6 taking it from 5.1 seconds to 6.6 seconds.
