SWGoH: Best Mods for Bastila Shan

SWGoH - Bastila Shan

Welcome to the best mods for Bastila Shan, the latest article in our series about the popular game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods SWGoH characters. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every character I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations based on the character’s kit and actual gameplay to help you in your quest to dominate the Galaxy of Heroes holotables.

SWGoH - KOTOR - Bastila ShanToday’s character to review mods for will be one of the top Jedi leaders in SWGoH – Bastila Shan. A non-canon character who is from the popular Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game, Bastila is known for her Legendary Battle Meditation which is cleverly built into SWGoH as her unique ability. Now with a Dark Side version in-game, let’s take a look at the best mods for Bastila to make her more effective on your roster.

Main Focus: Speed. While it seems the developers are trying to shy away from the need for huge Speed on characters in SWGoH, it is the necessary evil of Galaxy of Heroes at the time of this writing. There really is no getting away from Speed, and Bastila is a character that has a fantastic kit on paper and needs Speed in order to make the most of her kit. Her Speed comes into play even more in using her in-game as her Legendary Battle Meditation grants the “+50% Potency and +35% Counter Chance” to her allies “at the start of Bastila’s turn.” So faster allies will see the effect wear off between turns meaning a faster Bastila will keep the buff active more often throughout a battle. In addition, differing levels of Speed are needed with Bastila to counter top teams in Territory Wars and the Grand Arena Championships game modes.

Additional Areas to Focus: Offense, Defense, Critical Chance, Potency and survivability in the forms of Health and Defense. While Potency seems logical given her basic Jedi Assault can apply the Ability Block debuff, if you are using her in an all-Jedi squad the added Potency may be overkill given the “+20% Potency for each active Jedi ally,” but if not a Potency cross may be a good move. Her Rally special grants Bastila and a target ally “Offense, Defense, Speed, Accuracy, and Critical Chance Up for 3 turns,” so enhancing any of those stats as well as Critical Damage will make her more effective for each. Survivability in the form or Health is also a key focus given Bastila’s leader ability, Initiative, grants Protection Up, a stat that is always impacted by Max Health in SWGoH

Speed Priority: 7/10 – Bastila Shan is a character that benefits greatly from a higher Speed stat, but if she is not a key member of your roster this priority goes down. However, Bastila is a key piece to many creative Territory War counters which require her to be very fast, so keep in mind that a fast Bastila is a more effective Bastila.

In-game Mod Recommendations: Speed & Health. I always find these to be interesting on characters that already were in-game at the time of Mods 2.0 (Fall of 2018). Bastila was added to SWGoH just before the mods 2.0 update, and while the recommendations they make, Speed & Health, are not bad, why do you make a character with such a low base Speed (140) and then recommend Speed mods? In addition, Health is very important to Bastila as a leader to get the Protection Up stat to be higher (which is confusing enough for the community already), but Health is not a major part of her kit unless the Jedi leader she is under has a Health-based enhancement from their leadership. Overall the in-game mod recommendations are just a general idea of what to do, and if you are reading this you are one of those looking to better understand SWGoH and mods and have found the right place.

Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH Bastila Shan:

The “ideal mod setup” can be interpreted a few different ways. If you target Speed, Offense, Defense and Health through the mods you should be able to maximize her kit, but if you want to experiment with added CC/CD that could be an effective option. Personally I am using a Speed set and a Health set to maximize her speed and survivability based on my available mod inventory. Here is my recommendation for the best mods for Bastila Shan:

  • Transmitter (Square) – Offense/Speed mod with offense primary and a secondary focus on speed, health and offense
  • Receiver (Arrow) – Health mod with speed primary and a secondary focus on health, protection, potency and offense
  • Processor (Diamond) – Offense/Speed mod with defense primary and a secondary focus on speed, health, critical chance and offense
  • Holo-Array (Triangle) – Offense/Speed mod with health/defense/protection/offense primary and a secondary focus on speed, health and offense
  • Data-Bus (Circle) – Offense/Speed mod with health primary (if used as a leader) or protection primary (if not used as a leader) and a secondary focus on speed, critical chance, defense and offense
  • Multiplexer (Plus) – Health mod with health or potency primary and a secondary focus on speed, health, offense or defense secondaries

  1. How is Protection Up impacted by Max Health?

  2. I think you’re misreading her kit. Legendary Battle Meditation states that “all OTHER allies … gain Legendary Battle Meditation.” She doesn’t get that buff. She gets no other potency except on her basic. If you want to land her stun, you need potency mods and a potency cross.

Myselfl, I went with a speed set and a potency set, with a potency cross and crit damage triangle. More than most toons, it seems like she just needs to be taking turns as often as possible to make sure everyone keeps that Legendary Battle Meditation buff. But I could also see an offense set, as you put, as a viable alternative to try to get her damage up, which can actually be decent with the right buffs.

But yeah, I just wanted to point out that she gets no bonus potency except on her basic. She needs potency mods or else her stun is always going to be only 7% potency.

  3. I would love clarification on whether she is getting potency up or not from Battle Meditation. I don’t currently have a Potency Plus with enough speed stats so have gone with 4 speed & 2 Potency mods. That leaves her at 24% Potency and rarely land a stun.

Love having your guides available for modding, so thanks in advance!

She does not. Legendary Battle Meditation is a buff, and you can see if a character has it or not.

  4. I would agree Legendary Battle Meditation is for ALL OTHER ALLIES, not Bastilla.
also to follow up on C. Dogg’s question, How isProtection Up impacted by Max Health?
wouldn’t it be better to put Protection Circle on her?

  5. thank you for the clarification PP. much appreciated!!
