MSF: Anomaly Detected – Continued problems with Marvel Strike Force servers

MSF - Anomaly Detected

It could not have happened at a worse time. With what may be the biggest grossing movie of all time hitting the theaters on Thursday, May 25th, one would think that Marvel Strike Force was in a position to pounce on new downloads and returning players alike for the coming weeks. The 25th also saw an in-game update where they took the servers down to push a new update to the App Store which included a tune-up of Hulk, new graphics and more. But while the timing could not have been better for attracting new blood to the game and bringing back former players, it could not have been a worse time to have continued problems.

Once the game went live on Thursday the crashes and freezes began immediately. I logged on, and had to force restart the game 3 times before the 6 pm ET showing of Avengers: Endgame at my local movie theater. Sure this was frustrating, but surely this would be resolved by the time I left the theater, approximately 9:30 pm ET (6:30 pm at the FoxNext studio). Unfortunately this was not the case and the issues have continued throughout the weekend. While it is my hope that this gets resolved quickly, for the good of the game and for my own sanity, to have these issue linger this long is damaging to the game’s reputation in my opinion.

Of course one can always contact customer service using the link in the bottom right on MarvelStrikeForce.com, however the latest response I got stated,

If you would like for us to check the specific items you received while opening orbs, please reply back to this ticket and we can look into that for you. It may take some time but we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

We hope that you found this information helpful. If you have any additional questions, feedback, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us on a new ticket and we will be happy to help.

Thank you for your patience and for playing MARVEL Strike Force.

As I told them in my original message, I am receiving the rewards, but I do not see them when they are opened which kills the gaming experience of seeing what you get. Similarly, a major piece of the player base for a game like this is middle aged men who value their time and have families, jobs, etc. The last thing we want is to have to force quit a game and feel like our time has been wasted time and time again.

In the end, I am sure FoxNext will get this right, but my disappointment lies in how long it has already taken to get to that point.

Update: Game updates were pushed through first for Android users then for iPhone users on Monday, April 29th.
