MSF: Dread The Darkness Live Blog – Mission #5

Dark Dimension III - Mission 5

Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting the fifth mission after a month fighting the 3rd mission and another month fighting the fourth mission. While I admitted before that this team (below) may not be an ideal team makeup for this game mode, I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.

Dread The Darkness – Mission 5

Mr. Sinister (1.39m), 12.5m total enemy health

07.14.20 – After almost a month of battles on Mission #4 which had over 60m health, this one does not look too bad, but there is always a catch. I fought this battle for the first time late in the day and the big thing to keep in mind is that only GLOBAL characters can be used. Not that he will be a huge help in this game mode, but M’Baku is very close to joining the roster as I just pulled him at 6 red stars, he was already at Gear 13 and my Wakandans are very strong already.

My team checked in for this battle at 372k as I had just four of my five Global characters available after Phoenix was used in the Mission #4 battle. Nine enemies are on-screen and I take a few hits and I am able to land BP’s ultimate, but I am not able to do much else. In the end I did 600k damage to the group as I look forward to a full team fighting to get a batter idea of what I can do each day.

07.15.20 – Checking in at 482k with Phoenix now in the mix today, the battle begins with ST taking a hit and Loki placing stealth on the entire group. As a result I decide to try and play strategic and start the battle over with just ST which wastes Loki’s stealth move.

Now fighting with four coming in at 404k, I take a few hits but can actually attack the enemies. BP hits Mr. Sinister and he is in yellow health somehow and Ultimus hits him with his ultimate. Namor uses his AoE ultimate on the bad guys before Phoenix gets both zaps in, killing Mr. Sinister. I get stuck behind a Stryfe taunt, but Phoenix gets to use her ultimate and that wipes out the Merc Lieutenant and one other as 18 of 21 remain. Ultimus and BP gang up on Sabretooth and kill him, then BP lands two hits on Loki to weaken him to low red health. That is all I can get in for today, but it was a very positive battle.

07.17.20 – Today’s battle begins with the enemies coming in at 8.25m health remaining. Unfortunately the day got away from me yesterday so I did not get an attack in. I hate missing attacks, but with the daily attacks needed for success in Raids, the craziness of Blitz and the every other day Wars in MSF, the Dark Dimension battles are often the last to be fought.

My team of 482k Global characters checks in seeing 16 of 21 enemies remaining. After taking some shots the enemy Stryfe has taunt, but my BP is charged and his AoE is up and it is followed by Namor’s special. I take a few other hits, including a Namor AoE, but Phoenix is dropped and the Phoenix zap drops the enemy to 13 remaining. Just as I am about to take out more enemies, a Scarlet Witch appears and heals to mess things up. In the end 11 enemies remain holding 4.98 million health.

07.18.20 – My team gets a new look as I have added Wakandan Protector M’Baku to the Gear 14 ranks, and I am interested to see if this helps my cause or hurts it. Checking in at 99,935 power, 7-stars and 6-red stars, he will replace a 77k SHIELD Trooper.

My team of 504k power enters the battle against 11 enemies, including Stryfe who is already taunting. Phoenix gives out stealth and gets knocked out, only to zap and summon Dark Phoenix. After Ultron brings his minions I get Speed Up and follow Namor’s AoE ultimate with the same from Dark Phoenix and take out Scarlet Witch. Next I take out a Kree Noble and get blinded by Magneto. I survive a round with no attack damage on the enemies and BP lands his ultimate AoE as I am focusing on Mr. Sinister. Namor finally takes out Mr. Sinister and Magneto alike, and then Ultimus kills off their Namor as I set tomorrow’s battle up nicely. I place more attacks on the two enemy Strfye characters and continue to have Ultron summon his buddies, and I survive long enough to do even more damage. Ultron proves to be the key here as Loki and Stryfe do not have the offense to finish him off with the addition of new minions every couple of turns, and in the end Ultron’s ultimate clears the enemies from the board as I get the close win in just 4 days of battles.
