Welcome to the latest article in our series about the popular game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for each SWGoH character. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every hero I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations based on the character’s kit and actual gameplay to help you in your quest to dominate the Galaxy of Heroes holotables.
Today’s character to review mods for is one of the better known characters from the Clone Wars and later the Rebels series (and possibly on Endor…) – Captain Rex, aka CT-7567. A Captain in the Republic’s 501st Legion during the Clone Wars, for the purpose of SWGoH, Rex has been a solid leader since the early days of Galaxy of Heroes and has fit with a variety of squad combinations. However the August 2019 rework of his kit and the addition of the 501st tag has made him even more valuable, especially with a Light Side Territory Battle on Geonosis coming soon.
Main Focus: Speed. Rex’s main use was in the Arena for a long time and few characters were as annoying to face as a team with a fast Rex. Even today, after the rework, having a very high Speed number will give you a major advantage if you can have him going first and granting Tenacity Up on all allies. This in turn also grants Clone allies 60% Turn Meter (or more based on debuffs cleared), so Rex’s Speed number may be the difference in a win or loss. Add in that “all 501st allies have +4% Speed for each 501st ally present at the start of battle” and this Speed focus could prove deadly.
Additional Areas to Focus: Potency, Offense and survivability, specifically in the form of Health. Potency helps his basic, Impeding Shot, remove Turn Meter. Offense or even Critical Chance and Critical Damage can boost his damage to make him hit harder. Any additional survivability will make Rex harder to kill, but if used as a Leader I recommend you focus on Health since his Leader ability grants Clone allies 20% Max Health.
One thing to note, even though I never recommend Critical Avoidance mods on any character in SWGoH, it would be even worse of a move to use a Crit Avoidance primary arrow on Rex or anyone under his leadership given critical hits actually grant Rex and Clone allies Turn Meter.
In-game Mod Recommendations: Speed & Health. No disagreement here as Speed is even more of a big deal with Rex after the 501st tag addition.
Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH CT-7567 Rex:
I recommend the use of two Health and four Speed mods on Rex with as much Speed as possible from the secondary stats. Thus, here is my recommended approach for mods on CT-7567 Captain Rex:
- Transmitter (Square) – Health mod with a primary focus on offense and a secondary focus on speed, health and potency
- Receiver (Arrow) – Speed mod with a primary focus on speed and a secondary focus on health, offense and potency
- Processor (Diamond) – Speed mod with a primary focus on defense and a secondary focus on speed, health and potency
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – Speed mod with a primary focus on health or offense and a secondary focus on speed, health and potency
- Data-Bus (Circle) – Health mod with primary focus on health and a secondary focus on speed, health and potency
- Multiplexer (Plus) – Speed mod a primary focus on potency and a secondary focus on speed, health and potency
Note: Transmitter, Processor and Data-Bus mods are MUCH more common. If you can maximize the stats from these using a MK V, Tier A mod that is ideal.
