Welcome to the first in a series of articles about the Transformers Earth Wars mobile game where we take a look at the best Power Cores for each bot. While our staff will never claim to have all of the answers for TFEW, we do our homework and test out each bot to ensure we are making only the best recommendations.
Today’s bots to review Power Cores for are Optimus Prime & Megatron. Optimus Prime and Megatron are some of the most sought after, high level bots in the game. Although every player obtains their 2-star versions for free through the beginning campaign, the Inspiring Charge ability remains a powerful addition to many teams on all variants of the characters. It is generally utilized to guide your forces to the enemy’s headquarters building or out of harm’s way! Even the 2-star variant can be useful for those without access to higher levels. Optimus and Megatron are characterized by having close to the highest HP (each ranked 4th for their respective sides in 3-star/4-star tiers, the current best 5-star in terms of HP). In short, they are built to take a beating.
Utilizing Inspring Charge appropriately (potentially multiple times) can allow you to bypass defenses in “Time Trap” style bases or poorly constructed bases. The honeycomb base architecture significantly slows down bots and can cause you to waste significant amounts of time (a precious resource!) in attempting to defeat a base as many of your non-ranged bots need to chew through walls to get through to the buildings within.
Best Power Core for Optimus Prime & Megatron:
Tactician Core – The Tactician Core is extremely useful in guiding Optimus Prime (or Megatron) to the base. Optimus Prime can be “distracted” by build bots or non-defensive buildings intended to pull bots into the “crossfire” of the defenses or away from weak points. The Tactician Core allows for Optimus Prime to bypass these and target defenses. As such, it allows some of the best use of Inspiring Charge to guide bots past the distraction causing build bots and buildings. As the core guides bots to defenses, only the amount of time changes with core level and rank. Since this is an ability mostly used in the initial battle phases, almost any rarity/rank of core will be useful!
One caveat with this core is that Optimus’s ability has at times been “bugged” due to an issue with Inspiring Charge. Sometimes, bots will not follow the Inspiring Charge with Tactician Core; however, this issue was noted to be fixed in a recent game content update. It has been noted though that sometimes bots and healers will go off path even still with the ability activated.
Other Power Cores to consider – Optimus Prime’s Matrix/Battle-Hardened Megatron/Vitality Core or Rejuvenation Core
