SWGoH Relic Review: Grand Admiral Thrawn

SWGoH - Relics - Grand Admiral Thrawn

Gaming-fans.com has been a staple in the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes community since the beginning. From our Mod Guides and breaking news as a EA GameChanger to our Sith Raid Guide and more, our site seeks to help educate players about this highly complex mobile game. With Relic Amplifiers now in the game, Gaming-fans.com has you covered as we seek to continue to make the community smarter when it comes to how to get the most out of Start Wars Galaxy of Heroes.

Continuing the Relic Review series, we take a look at Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Relic upgrades and the impact it has on the game. As always these reviews compare a character at Gear 13, Relic Level 0 with Relic Level 7, and mods are not factored in.

For Grand Admiral Thrawn, his RK-3 Blaster Pistol is the Relic of choice in SWGoH. His statistics impacted include Health & Armor from his Strength Growth, Armor & Physical Critical Chance from his Agility Growth, Resistance, Special & Physical Damage from his Tactics Growth and finally Accuracy, Critical Avoidance and Damage from his Tactics Support Mastery.

Defensively, Grand Admiral Thrawn gets and average Health boost of 16,830 bringing him to 48,903 and he does not have any Protection gain. His defensive Armor stat gets a below average 10.54% increase with a middle-of-the-road 7.78% gain in Resistance. While only about 20-25% of all characters in SWGoH see any changes in their Physical and Critical Avoidance, Thrawn is one of those few, gaining 13.5% for both stats.

On the offensive side, Grand Admiral Thrawn gets one of those elusive, irrelevant stats as he gains 2,169 Physical Damage, but because he is a Special Damage dealer we have to ignore this stat and point it out just for educational purposes. While his Special Damage increase of 3,333 is solid, it is a rather average increase compared to others in the game. A 16.58% Physical Critical Chance gain again gets thrown aside as a wasted stat as Thrawn does not see any gains in Special CC or Critical Damage. However the Grand Admiral does get a 13.5% increase in Accuracy to boost his attacks. In the Miscellaneous stats, Health Steal, Resistance and Armor Penetration, Grand Admiral Thrawn does not see any gains.

While Grand Admiral Thrawn continues to hold a very important position in today’s SWGoH as both one of the top Empire characters, a Fleet Commander and a fantastic character to help counter Galactic Legends, his Relic stat upgrades are quite underwhelming. Misleading stat gains to Physical Damage and Physical CC means others will gain useful stats in places where he will not, and the stats that are enhanced, Critical Avoidance and Accuracy in particular, are less important in Galaxy of Heroes. Overall I am rather disappointed with the lack of gains for my favorite character in the Star Wars universe and have to give his Relic upgrades a grade of Medium to Low Priority. However, given Thrawn is now a required character to unlock Sith Eternal Emperor, and his value as a counter to other Galactic Legends, this moves Thrawn into the upper tier of the Medium Priority.
