Doomed To Fail – SWGoH Guilds unwilling to compromise make recruiting players like finding a needle in a haystack

For much of the past two weeks, and off an on before that, I, along with others in my SWGoH Guild, have been working on recruiting new players to our Guild which will fight the Heroic AAT (HAAT) this weekend. While we are kicking it off tonight at 8 pm ET (message usΒ on Line @toothlessthedragon98 or Tweet @GamingFansDFN if interested), the recruitment process is much like trying to find good candidates for a job – excruciatingly painful, time-consuming and somewhat depressing. Last night we had a player ready to join – but their fickle impatience with waiting twoΒ hours to free up a roster spot cause their wishy-washy ways to screw it all up. So while this rant will not apply to all who read it, it will apply to well over 50% of the smaller Guilds whose leaders take the time to check it out. Hopefully theyΒ will learn something…

As I headed to the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes forum on EA.com today and started browsing through the many Guild Recruitment posts trying to find that one decent lead that may or may not exist, I came across yet another Guild with 18 of 50 members wanting to do it their way. A response asked if they would be interested in a merger to which they replied “We re more for people willing to join us.”Β My comments are below:

“And that is why you will fail in the long-run. No disrespect meant, but the overwhelming need of people to be in control of their Guilds and inability of compromise is the reason there are 20 post on these forums from Guilds looking for players (like you guys) and 1 from a player seeking a Guild. You cannot stand out in this environment no matter the catchy title or words.”

Harsh? Yeah, a bit. But it is the damn truth, and sometimes people cannot handle the truth, especially in the bleeding-heart, overly sensitive world we live in today. Somebody will probably be offended by that comment. I will just sit here and shake my head.

Egos are uglyΒ –Β they are like butts. We all have them and they all stink (corny, I know). But it is the truth. All of these people want the same thing yet nobody wants to give up control, thus they are Doomed To Fail. Guess what folks – if you are that darn good at the game and with leading people it will be noticed in time and you will earn a spot as a leader in a new Guild. Trust me, I know. And I rewarded my Guild with two other Top 10 players and one mid-range player in a HAAT Guild, became an officer within a few weeks, and helped create the plan for which we would all become more HAAT-ready. All from taking that small risk.

My suggestion? Get out of your own way, swallow your pride and start looking for ways to truly work as a team with others. Contact other Guilds, explore opportunities to work together and stop being selfish. It won’t work for everyone – there are too many selfish people in this game and a handful of those who just don’t get it. But if small Guilds and start-ups can realize that they don’t really have any chance at long-term success in this uber-competitive environment, they will then realize that they will be better off in the long-run.

  1. have you tried to change your mod sets ? (if palpy hits too hard for the chirpatine strategy, remove some offense, add some speed or some health…)

    • We are fighting HAAT now so the changing of the Mods to not hit as hard is no longer a “problem” as it was in the t6 AAT.

Not sure what you are referring to – we have no problems on our Guild as a result of 2-3 mini-mergers to fill the 50 spaces…

I couldn’t agree more with this, I struggled to get a guild off the ground, I messaged multiple recruiters about a merger and finally found one willing, we started raiding the next day and our guild reached #277 last week in rankings.

I’m looking for a guild that is Heroic Rancor ready. I have over 80 Han shards and I’m looking to complete him as well as General Kenobi, which my current guild is not ready for yet.
As for me, I’m a daily player, level 85 with almost 60 characters at 7-star level, as well as being maxed to 85. I’m a consistent top 5 in both raids.

Get me your ally code and we can look to add you to our second Guild which we draw from when we need players. Cool?

    • We are looking for 2 members, we have multiple members in top 50 PVP and fleet, currently doing t7 Pit in ~1/2 hour every other day and very close to HAAT…Fly Union would love to have you! My ally code is

  6. Good information. Where do I go to find other guilds willing to merge? What’s the general process for merging?

  7. Yep ego is a huge problem. Like when you contribute to guild activities, but then you do really well on a raid and you get kicked because you did more damage than the guild leader so you get kicked. Check you ego and get over it.
