Welcome to the C-3PO mods guide, the latest article in our series about the popular game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for each SWGoH character. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every toon I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations and they are certainly not the only option. However we look to help players maximize their characters in SWGoH and we are always open to feedback if you have a mod setup that works well in your own gameplay.
Today’s character to review mods for will be the most recent Legendary character added to Galaxy of Heroes, C-3PO. The “golden god” features a kit in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes that is more complex than translating the binary language of moisture vaporators as he features two non-attack abilities and five uniques. To open C-3PO you need a strong team of five Ewoks, so do not miss my C-3PO Event live blog as I attempt to open Threepio on my personal account.
Main Focus: Potency. The key to C-3PO’s kit being highly effective is landing the Confuse debuff, and with all negative status effects you need to have strong Potency to get them to “stick.” Thus, I am going to be shooting for the 100% Potency range to start and will continue to test this out once I have C-3PO unlocked on my account.
Additional Areas to Focus: Speed, Tenacity and Survivability in the forms of Defense, Health and Protection. Speed will be all about turn order and when you want C-3PO’s turn to come up in your battles. * You could go high Speed and get to his Oh My Goodness special sooner to grant himself Potency Up and Stealth to set up his basic. However, allowing all Galactic Republic, Rebel, Resistance, and Ewok allies to use their special first with C-3PO taking the 5th turn of the battle allows each of these allies, to have gained the unique buff Translation, and then create a mass-attack. Actual in-game testing is where this will iron itself out, and odds are players will take one side or the other when choosing the Speed secondaries for Threepio. Tenacity will help him fight off debuffs and us his Oh My Goodness special, however with just two “attack” abilities and five uniques, debuffs will not be as detrimental on C-3PO as other characters. Finally, given his ability to enhance all around him, I suggest heavy survivability for C-3PO which can come from Defense, Health and Protection. Given the availability of Health mods in SWGoH, it seems logical to use a set or two of Health mods with potency and survivability-based secondary stats.
In-game Mod Suggestions: TBD.
Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH C-3PO:
The “ideal mod setup” can be interpreted a few different ways. Personally, I will start with two sets of two Potency mods and a set of two Health mods as long as I find the secondary stats I am looking for. The secondary stats to seek out would be Potency, Defense, Health, Protection, Tenacity and possibly Speed (see above on Speed impacting C-3PO). Leave your feedback in the comments or Tweet us @GamingFansDFN with your thoughts if you have other recommendations.
Given C-3PO is a Legendary Event toon, I suggest using some of your absolute best mods on him to ensure he is as strong as possible. Here is my preferred mod setup for C-3PO:
- Transmitter (Square) – Potency mod with offense primary and a secondary focus on speed*, health, protection and potency
- Receiver (Arrow) – Potency mod with speed*, health, defense or protection primary and a secondary focus on speed*, health, defense, tenacity and protection
- Processor (Diamond) – Health mod with defense primary and a secondary focus on speed*, health, defense and protection
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – Potency mod with health, defense or protection primary and a secondary focus on speed*, health, defense and protection
- Data-Bus (Circle) – Health mod with protection primary and a secondary focus on speed*, health, defense and tenacity
- Multiplexer (Plus) – Potency mod with a potency primary and a secondary focus on speed*, health, defense and protection
