SWGoH: Contact Protocol C-3PO Event Live Blog

SWGoH - C-3PO

The annual December Legendary Event in Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes for 2018 is on its way which will give players the chance to unlock C-3Po. A year after the Rey’s Hero’s Journey in December 2017 allowed us to unlock Rey (Jedi Training) for the first time, players will need to use five Ewoks to capture the droid hero who has appeared in each of the numbered Star Wars movies. With C-3PO’s kit having been released yesterday, we now know how he will impact Rebels, Resistance, Droids and even R2-D2 in the SWGoH’s future.

For the C-3PO event our Director of Content will live blog his efforts. Much like his recent Chewbacca event live blog, as well as the Thrawn, RJT and BB-8 events, LJ will detail the character levels, gear levels, mods, mod types and mod levels for each of the five toons used in the event to (hopefully) unlock C-3PO.

Details of the Live Blog attempts will be posted below. Keep checking back and hit “refresh” in your browser for updates to this page with all details below and be sure to add your comments below or Tweet them to @GamingFansDFN on your experiences as well.

On the EA forums it reads “Prepare your veteran Ewok squad and earn this loveable golden god! This event will be difficult, so make sure to be well equipped!” As a result of this I am expecting a very difficult event, possibly a Gear 12 with 6-dot mods needed kind of event like we needed to unlock Chewbacca.

C-3PO – Attempt #1

First off, all of this will take place on my personal account, not the GameChangers account for reference. I am starting this event with my regular mods on my Ewoks. I am fully aware of the fact that my mods and gear levels are not attainable by all players and I apologize if you cannot relate. I feel that this example will show players the value of mods in the game and we here at Gaming-fans.com are happy to assist if you need help modding SWGoH characters. I can tell you that I have been saving up all gear, mod slicing materials and have better mods in reserve if needed to ensure that this event is a success in the end. In addition, I have the ability to add multiple Zetas to the crew if needed.

7:05 am ET – Coffee is full, event is starting.

Tier I – 6 hits and a win. Let me start off with a huge kudos to the design team on this. In addition to not killing the Rebels, this graphics are fantastic and this is just well done all around.

Tier II – Wicket took care of business with his AoE and we’re off to Tier 3.

Tier III – Huge jump in difficulty from Tier 2 to Tier 3, but another easy win.

Tier IV – The defensive stats for the Rebels continue to get higher as it takes more effort to win, but we’re off to Tier 5.

Tier V – This is where I expect it to start to be more of a challenge. The Endor Rebel Commando, Rex’s buddy, is super annoying with the Taunt and Retribution, and Wicket got confused quickly. However a Ewok Elder cleanse helped out. Logray’s ability to land Daze was a nice addition and, as I type this and the music plays, I am reminded about how great the music is in Star Wars and how well-presented it is in Galaxy of Heroes as well. Tier 5 was not “difficult” with my lineup, but R2-D2 took forever to kill. This should start to get interesting…

C-3PO has been unlocked and has a little message for you when you open him.

Tier VI – Here is where I expect the real challenge to begin, and the opening few attacks are not leaving me disappointed. EE is Stunned and Scout is Confused before I even take a turn. The importance of Logray on this team of Ewoks cannot be understated as his ability to Dispel and land Daze are incredibly valuable. The no buffs part of the Confuse debuff from C-3PO will be very important – he is keeping my Ewoks at bay to an extent as a result, but no deaths so far.

Tier VII – Here we go. Using the abilities, gear and mods above, I expect to lose at Tier 7. If not, I will have a ton of gear and mod slicing mats ready for the Grand Arena and Territory Wars though!

Okay, after a crazy opening barrage my Ewok Scout is down and Chief Chirpa is Stunned, so let’s see how this plays out. A Hypnotize from Logray takes the buffs off of the Endor Rebel Commando, EE revives Scout and then everything falls apart. Holy crap that was fast. I am now down to Wicket and only Wicket. Time to work on my team…

C-3PO – Attempt #2

Ok, so I have made some changes, but I am remaining very conservative in using gear so the goal is to move mods around and see how far that gets me. I believe all characters have improved their Speed and Wicket is now Gear 12, the only gear addition so far. Wicket and Logray got some huge stat boosts from new mods. Here is a look at the new stats:

Characters:

Note that all Ewok characters listed are 7-stars and level 85 for reference.

  • Chief Chirpa (Leader) – GP 17,058 – Gear 11 w/5 pieces – 4 Speed & 2 Health mods, all with 5-dots (2 gold, 1 purple, 2 blue, 1 green) – Speed 204, Health 25,072, Damage 2,467, Armor 31.04% – all abilities maxed except for Simple Tactics (no zeta)
  • Ewok Elder – GP 16,891 – Gear 12 w/1 piece – 4 Health & 2 Tenacity mods, 5 with 5-dots (1 gold, 2 blue, 2 green) and 1 with 6-dots – Speed 212, Health 28,027, Damage 2,055, Armor 36.47% – all abilities maxed
  • Ewok Scout – GP 16,285 – Gear 11 w/4 pieces – 4 Critical Damage & 2 Potency mods with 5-dots (2 gold, 1 purple, 2 blue, 1 green) – Speed 231, CC 44.46%, CD 216%, Potency 49.59%, Damage 2,689, Armor 27.76% – all abilities maxed
  • Logray – GP 16,440 – Gear 11 w/2 pieces – 4 Speed & 2 Potency mods, all with 5-dots (1 gold, 2 purple, 2 blue, 1 green) – Speed 232, Health 19,012, Potency 85.32%, Damage 2,165, Armor 32.5% – all abilities maxed except for Shaman’s Insight (no zeta)
  • Wicket – GP 17,712 – Gear 12 w/0 pieces – 4 Critical Damage & 2 Critical Chance mods, all with 6-dots – Speed 269, CC 74.96%, CD 222%, Health 26,680, Damage 2,939, Armor 33.28% – all abilities maxed except for Furtive Tactics (no zeta)

8:05 am ET

Tier VII – After the initial round of attacks all 5 Ewoks are alive, but Scout is Stunned and all are debuffed. Being my fastest, Wicket will get the first attack which will be the double hit to Stealth himself and EE. Logray lands the Daze and takes the 2x off of Han and few attacks later I lose Ewok Scout and I have Wicket putting Stealth on himself and EE again. It does not take long for the train to get derailed after that despite a EE revive of Scout and it is clear to me that these Gear 11 Ewoks will not be getting the job done. Dang.

C-3PO – Attempt #3

More changes, most significant is Logray is now Gear 12. His value in this quest is not to be underestimated in my opinion. Scout and Chirpa will remain at Gear 11 for now but I added a piece on Ewok Scout. Sliced some mods to improve secondary stats so there are no more green mods now.

Characters:

Note that all Ewok characters listed are 7-stars and level 85 for reference.

  • Chief Chirpa (Leader) – GP 17,151 – Gear 11 w/5 pieces – 4 Speed & 2 Health mods, all with 5-dots (4 gold, 1 purple, 1 blue) – Speed 218, Health 24,454, Damage 2,556, Armor 31.04% – all abilities maxed except for Simple Tactics (no zeta)
  • Ewok Elder – GP 16,891 – Gear 12 w/1 piece – 4 Health & 2 Tenacity mods, 5 with 5-dots (3 gold, 2 blue) and 1 with 6-dots – Speed 223, Health 27,803, Damage 2,026, Armor 36.72% – all abilities maxed
  • Ewok Scout – GP 16,506 – Gear 11 w/5 pieces – 4 Critical Damage & 2 Potency mods with 5-dots (2 gold, 1 purple, 3 blue) – Speed 231, CC 43.46%, CD 216%, Potency 51.47%, Damage 2,705, Armor 27.93% – all abilities maxed
  • Logray – GP 17,464 – Gear 12 w/1 piece – 4 Speed & 2 Potency mods, all with 5-dots (1 gold, 2 purple, 3 blue) – Speed 232, Health 23,275, Potency 85.32%, Damage 2,468, Armor 34.58% – all abilities maxed except for Shaman’s Insight (no zeta)
  • Wicket – GP 17,712 – Gear 12 w/0 pieces – 4 Critical Damage & 2 Critical Chance mods, all with 6-dots – Speed 269, CC 74.96%, CD 222%, Health 26,680, Damage 2,939, Armor 33.28% – all abilities maxed except for Furtive Tactics (no zeta)

Tier VII – Let’s see if I have done enough. I have 12k crystals and my stores refresh in 10 minutes, so I am ready to dive in head first if I must…

The opening attacks were not as bad, but a counter and assist off of Ewok Scout’s first attack has him dead and EE Stunned. Not liking the RNG to start this one. Logray’s dispel and Daze are great, but R2 putting Stealth on the team is a real problem. Wow, this just got derailed fast. Going to try again for RNG, but I am still a good way away from beating this event.

Attempt 3a – Same. Ouch.

C-3PO – Attempt #4

Even more changes, added more Gear 12 pieces and upgraded more mods, but no change to Chief Chirpa including no use of a Zeta yet. I am in need of Mk 4 Zaltin Bacta Gel Salvage now – 89 pieces of salvage away from getting both Scout and Chirpa to Gear 12. I am starting to think a Chirpa Zeta may be necessary for this event…

Characters:

Note that all Ewok characters listed are 7-stars and level 85 for reference.

  • Chief Chirpa (Leader) – GP 17,173 – Gear 11 w/5 pieces – 4 Speed & 2 Health mods, all with 5-dots (4 gold, 1 purple, 1 blue) – Speed 218, Health 24,454, Damage 2,556, Armor 31.04% – all abilities maxed except for Simple Tactics (no zeta)
  • Ewok Elder – GP 17,731 – Gear 12 w/2 pieces – 4 Health & 2 Tenacity mods, 4 with 5-dots (3 gold, 1 blue) and 2 with 6-dots – Speed 224, Health 36,237, Damage 2,058, Armor 36.97% – all abilities maxed
  • Ewok Scout – GP 16,599 – Gear 11 w/5 pieces – 4 Critical Damage & 2 Potency mods with 5-dots (4 gold, 1 purple, 1 blue) – Speed 238, CC 47.14%, CD 216%, Potency 48.18%, Damage 2,848, Armor 28.01% – all abilities maxed
  • Logray – GP 17,881 – Gear 12 w/2 pieces – 4 Speed & 2 Potency mods, four with 4-dots (2 gold, 1 purple, 1 blue) & two with 6-dots – Speed 247, Health 25,291, Potency 95.32%, Damage 2,685, Armor 36.61% – all abilities maxed except for Shaman’s Insight (no zeta)
  • Wicket – GP 17,922 – Gear 12 w/1 pieces – 4 Critical Damage & 2 Critical Chance mods, all with 6-dots – Speed 269, CC 74.96%, CD 222%, Health 26,680, Damage 2,939, Armor 37.22% – all abilities maxed except for Furtive Tactics (no zeta)

9:30 am ET

Tier VII – The initial hits are tough again, but only Chirpa and Logray are below 50% health. Chirpa is Stunned and my attacks start. Logray dispels the Endor Rebel Commando and my offensive focus is on Chewbacca who is dazed. I knock off all Protection on Chewie and Endor Rebel Commando gains taunt again, grrrr, but a couple of attacks and Logray dispels again. They keep hitting EE but I am able to get a heal and then Wicket Stealths EE and Chewie is down. This battle feels different than all of the others. Han is the toon I want to kill next, but I have a Daze on R2 and Endor Rebel Commando so my non-Stealth toons focus on ERC. I take out ERC and have the mass attack coming so I will focus on Han with that. The Wicket & EE combo works again after that to take Han Solo out. Now, with the two droids and Leia left, I am focusing on getting Leia to surrender so I can finish this thing off. I lost Ewok Scout and quickly revived him so all focus on Leia now, and I finish her off with the Wicket/EE combo again. Now on to R2. Another Logray dispel and Daze and this is wrapped up. Once R2 goes down, which takes about 30 hits, I hit auto and get to see the Ewoks praise their golden god C-3PO.

Result: 7-star C-3PO
