In a move that surprised everyone, including EA/CG’s own media partners known as the “GameChangers,” the reworked kits for both HK-47 and Bastila Shan (Fallen) were posted onto the EA Forums earlier today. Both characters were announced to be getting reworks to better synergize with Darth Revan, who joins Galaxy of Heroes later this week, and while it seems (on paper) that this has been accomplished, it also seems that these characters may be less useful when not used with Darth Revan. Here is a look at both kits and some quick takeaways.
UNIT NAME: HK-47
ALIGNMENT: Dark Side
CATEGORIES: Dark, Attacker, Droid, Sith Empire
Devastating Droid Attacker that excels at taking down Jedi enemies
Basic: Request: Die, Meatbag!
FINAL TEXT: Deal Physical damage to target enemy and gain Offense Up for 2 turns. This attack has +30% Critical Damage against debuffed enemies.
Special 1: Havoc (Cooldown 3)
FINAL TEXT: Deal true damage (ignores Defense but can’t critically hit) to all enemies, and half that amount an additional time for each debuffed enemy. Then, inflict Tenacity Down on all enemies for 2 turns. This attack deals 20% more damage for each Jedi enemy and can’t be countered.
Special 2: Assassination Protocol (Cooldown 9)
FINAL TEXT: Dispel all buffs on target enemy, then deal Physical damage to that enemy. This attack can’t be evaded and deals 100% more damage against Jedi. If the target enemy has Deathmark or Fear, this ability’s cooldown is reset.
This ability starts on cooldown, and its cooldown is reduced by 1 when an enemy is inflicted with Fear.
Leader: Targeted Elimination
FINAL TEXT: Droid allies have +30% Critical Chance, +20% Critical Damage, and gain 10% Turn Meter on a critical hit.
Unique 1: Self-Reconstruction
FINAL TEXT: (ZETA) When a buff expires on an enemy, HK-47 recovers 5% Health and 5% Protection. When HK-47 uses an ability during his turn, it deals 25% more damage if the target has Deathmark or Fear.
Unique 2: Loyalty to the Maker
FINAL TEXT: (ZETA) If HK-47’s leader is Darth Revan, HK-47 has the following:
+50% Defense, Offense, Potency, and Tenacity
+30% Critical Avoidance for each Jedi enemy
Cooldown of Assassination Protocol is reset the first time another Sith Empire ally is defeated
Enemies with Protection Up can’t gain bonus Turn Meter
HK-47’s basic will now grant Offense Up each time it is used, provided he does not have Buff Immunity on him and increases his effectiveness against rebuffed enemies. The Havoc special will, like his old Meatball Mayhem special, apply debuffs and increase his reliance on Potency from mods plus hit harder against debuffed enemies. The ability to dispel buffs on enemies from the Assassination Protocol special will be quite helpful, but it replaces a solid leader ability with a lesser one, in my opinion. The unique abilities further strengthen HK-47 in terms of his use with Darth Revan, but don’t do much else in terms of making him more viable in SWGoH.
The new Sith Empire tag is an interesting twist, but not having an Old Republic tag is either a mistake or a blatant slap in the face given HK-47 is as Old Republic as they come. This means that the reworked HK-47 will not be viable on Carth Onasi-led OR teams and likely will only work with droids or Darth Revan himself.
UNIT NAME: Bastila Shan (Fallen)
ALIGNMENT: Dark Side
CATEGORIES: Sith, Support, Sith Empire
Strong Sith Support who inflicts a large number of debuffs including Shock, Fear, and Corrupted Battle Meditation
Basic: Sith Assault
FINAL TEXT: Deal Special damage to target enemy and inflict Ability Block for 1 turn. This attack deals 10% more damage and has +10% Critical Chance for each active Sith ally.
Special 1: Wild Lightning (Cooldown 2)
FINAL TEXT: Deal Special damage to target enemy and Shock them for 3 turns. If the target already had Shock, deal bonus Special damage to all enemies. This bonus damage can’t be countered. This ability can’t be evaded.
Special 2: Fear (Cooldown 3)
FINAL TEXT: Inflict Fear on target enemy and another random enemy for 1 turn, which can’t be copied or dispelled. When each of these Fears expire, inflict Offense Down, Critical Damage Down, Evasion Down, Speed Down, Expose, and Stagger for 2 turns. These effects can’t be resisted.
All other enemies are inflicted with Offense Down, Critical Damage Down, Evasion Down, Speed Down, Expose, and Stagger for 2 turns.
Fear: Miss the next turn, can’t use abilities, and can’t evade. Increase cooldowns by 1 and Fear expires on taking damage from an attack.
Unique 1: Corrupted Battle Meditation
FINAL TEXT: At the start of Bastila’s turn, all enemies lose 3% Turn Meter (doubled against non-Jedi and non-Sith) and are inflicted with Corrupted Battle Meditation for 1 turn. Then Bastila recovers 1% Protection for each debuff on enemies.
Corrupted Battle Meditation: -30% Critical Chance, -30% counter chance (doubled against non-Jedi and non-Sith); Corrupted Battle Meditation can’t be dispelled.
Unique 2: Sith Apprentice
FINAL TEXT: (ZETA) Bastila and the character in the leader slot have +50% Defense, Potency, and Tenacity and gain Foresight for 1 turn at the start of battle. If Bastila’s leader is another Sith, whenever an enemy is inflicted with Deathmark, Fear, Marked, or Shock, they both gain 5% Offense (stacking up to 100%) for the rest of battle. This ability does not apply to characters in the ally slot.
Unique 3: Force Bond
FINAL TEXT: If Darth Revan is in the leader slot: Bastila and Darth Revan have +70% Max Health and +70% Health Steal, Darth Revan also recovers Protection from Corrupted Battle Meditation, and enemies inflicted with Corrupted Battle Meditation can’t inflict debuffs on enemies when they use an ability (excludes Raid Bosses).
If Jedi Knight Revan is on the enemy squad: Bastila gains Advantage and Foresight for one turn at the start of Jedi Knight Revan’s turns.
For some reason, Bastila Shan (Fallen) is losing the Old Republic faction tag… Ok…
BSF’s basic and first special have not changed, but the Fear special and resulting debuff is quite powerful. Corrupted Battle Meditation no longer being able to be dispelled is also quite noteworthy. I am sure there is more to comment on, but overall they did what they said they would do – make BSF and HK-47 synergies with Darth Revan.
