While talking to one of my guildmates today about future SWGoH content and the plethora of new Star Wars efforts that will be coming out in a few months, it got me thinking more about what Capital Games has in store. Of course once upon a time I had this cool title of “GameChanger” which basically meant that I received information ahead of time and was able to benefit from its release while constantly promoting the game. However today I no longer have that “inside information” so the following is 100% speculation based off of patterns I have seen with CG and EA as well as how content is and has been released. These predictions are sure to go wrong, but I may actually nail a few too, so take this information in as entertainment and don’t bash me too much when I swing and miss. Oh, but feel free to praise those items that I get right.
The (Probably Road) Ahead was originally a column from Grand Admiral Sledge, my former Guildmate, may God rest his (SWGoH) soul…

September Login Character
I am expecting the Clone Wars theme to continue as we ramp up for a Light Side version of the Geonosis Territory Battles. Since the main character from a faction getting the rework is almost never the login character for the month, look for some (currently) mediocre Jedi like, Ima-Gonna-Die, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto or Eeth Koth to be the SWGoH daily login character for September.
Clone Wars Jedi Rework & New Characters
I fully expect we will see a rework of the existing Clone Wards Jedi to make them relevant, maybe even Eeth Koth (he is rubbish). Aayla Secura is pretty darn good, so she and Barriss Offee may not see any significant kit changes, but the Galactic Republic is full of characters to consider including: Plo Koon, Eeth Koth, Aayla, Barriss, Qui-Gon Jinn, Luminara Unduli, Ima-Gun Di, Kit Fisto and most notably Mace Windu. If CG does not make Mace Windu great, and not just good, but great, I may throw the past four years of daily logins and 5.3m GP down the drain and rage quit.
Hero’s Journey or Fall or Legendary or Epic Confrontation or…
Whatever they call it and whatever it is the rumors are that a Dark Side, pre-mask Anakin/Darth Vader is coming. Expect a “Slay Younglings” ability where he slices little kids in half and a “This Sith is on Fire” ability where he loses a limb and falls to the ground, burning (he told you he had the high ground you dummy!). In all fairness, if Dark Side Anakin is indeed added to the game, and I certainly hope he is, he should be awesome.
Light Side Geonosis Territory Battles
With this being I think the 5th time through the Geonosis: Separatist Might Territory Battles it is about time for the new Light Side version. That having been said, we started the original Hoth Territory Battles in late summer of 2017 and did not get the Dark Side version until Thanksgiving, so I am going to predict mid to late September for the release of the Light Side version on Geonosis. Why such timing? The fiscal quarter ends at the conclusion of September, and let’s not forget that CG has to work under EA’s guidelines for content and $$$. The stupid earnings reports have caused rushed content in the past and unfortunately hurts the game and the fans, but it is a harsh reality that we have to live with.
The Mandalorian
Don’t expect a ton from The Mandalorian right away despite the November 12 launch of the show on Disney Plus. The new live action drama, directed by Jon Favreau, has already been approved for a second season to start filming this Fall, so it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. I expect a character or two to whet our appetities, and maybe the main character’s ship, but not much more until 2020. Why? Read on.
The Rise of Skywalker
Expect Capital Games to go all-in on The Rise of Skywalker content and possibly add in a Last Jedi character or two before we start the content for the new movie. I could see a Praetorian Guard or First Order Riot Trooper being added in late October or early November to beef up the First Order and make them relevant again, but as we start heading toward the holidays and the movie’s release we should see a ton of new content, most likely in the form of new characters. Expect this to continue with the new movie content until at least mid-January, and expect marquee events for certain.
That is all for this edition of The (Probably) Road Ahead. I will try to make this a regular column again and track how well I did on the predictions, and maybe even have a little fun with the ones I screwed up on as well. For now, MTFBWY.
08.28.19 @ 4:55 pm ET Update: The September Calendar is now live and I was wrong on the Login Character for September as they have announced it to be Clone Sergeant – Phase I. In addition, the September 23rd Territory Battles line clearly leaves out a mention of Separatist Might, likely due to the (planned) release of the Light Side Territory Battles.
Now here is why I am not completing admitting I am wrong on the login character. Remember that when Separatist Might was released we had to fight it one time through (to humble the whales) BEFORE the Geonosian rework. My theory is that they do the same and have us fight it on September 23rd before reworks of the Galactic Republic Jedi in late September/early October. Then the second time through we will have our reworked Jedi with Ki-Adi-Mundi added to the faction and then needed for a Hero’s Journey style event. So expect someone like Kit Fisto or Ima-Gun Di as the login character for October instead of September.
