Continuing the Relic Review series, we take a look at Chewbacca’s Relic upgrades and the impact it has on the game. As always these reviews compare a character at Gear 13, Relic Level 0 with Relic Level 7, and mods are not factored in.
For Chewbacca, his Bowcaster is his Relic of choice in SWGoH. His statistics impacted include Health, Armor & Physical Damage from his Strength Growth, Armor & Physical Critical Chance from his Agility Growth, Resistance & Special Damage from his Tactics Growth and Accuracy, Damage and Armor & Resistance Penetration his Strength Attacker Mastery.
Defensively, Chewbacca gets a very nice Health boost of 19,746 which is one of the best Relic increases. Given all characters except for the Top 13 get between 16,812 and 19,746 this is not a huge advantage over the field, but it is a nice gain nonetheless. While Chewie does not gain any Protection, he does receive an average 12.95% increase in Armor and a 11.42% increase in Resistance – the 5th highest Resistance gain from Relics in SWGoH. This completes his defensive gains as he does not gain any Deflection or Dodge Chance, nor does he add any Physical or Critical Avoidance.
On the offensive side, Chewbacca, is a dealer of Physical Damage in Galaxy of Heroes, gets a boost of 2,706 Physical Damage from a Relic Level 7, one of the highest damage gains in the game. An 18% increase in Physical Critical Chance brings a maxed out Chewie to 70.17% CC, which coupled with the +25% CC gained on his next turn when attacked from his Raging Wookie unique, you will often see Chewbacca at over 95% CC. A 13.5% increase to his Physical Accuracy is a nice addition, but the +90 Resistance and Armor Penetration is going to be key. His total Armor Penetration stat is 305 after leveling him up to Relic 7, the 12th highest AP number in the game.
As we look at Chewbacca and how he fits into SWGoH today, he remains a key player on one of the top teams used throughout the game. The CLS Rebels team with Han Solo and Chewie is often used on offense in both Territory Wars and the Grand Arena Championships to beat high-level teams. In addition, as a crew member on the Millennium Falcon, arguably the game’s best ship, Chewbacca has a very high value in the game today. With the fantastic gains in Physical Damage, Resistance, and both Resistance and Armor Penetration plus solid gains in CC, Armor and Health, Chewie’s gains compared to the field are on the high side. Coupled with his extremely high value in the game, I am rating Chewbacca’s Relic as a High Priority, ahead of his buddy Han Solo and others.
