Scents of Resistance and First Order are flowing in the air along with pumpkin spice for Autumn!
BB-8 Comes to Galaxy of Heroes
Fall starts off with a bang by introducing loveable droid BB-8 to the game with his own event, the Pieces and Plans Legendary Event.
Like previous Legendary Events, BB-8’s event will feature seven tiers, offering enough shards to unlock at him on Tier 5 at 5* and the ability to continue to promote him to 6* and 7* in Tier 6 and Tier 7.
Following the same theme as other events, an opposing faction will be required to gain BB-8’s shards: First Order! Unlike other factions, First Order is very specific with currently just five characters available in the whole faction.
First Order includes: Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, First Order TIE Pilot, First Order Officer, and First Order Stormtrooper. All five of these characters will need to be at least at 5* in order to unlock BB-8.
Pieces and Plans Legendary Event will begin on 9/28 and will likely run for 7-8 days. Be sure to check out BB-8’s Gameplay Reveal and Tips for Success in his event!
Return of Double Drops!
The developers often help us celebrate new characters by offering Double Drops on specific nodes. With BB-8 requiring First Order characters and with currently just five characters in the faction, Double Drops on shards are certainly welcome!
Double Drops offer extra shards, credits, and currency on each of the available nodes. This round, Double Drops will be available from 9/22 – 9/25 on the following nodes for First Order characters:
- Light Side Battles: 2A Hard – First Order Stormtrooper (12 energy)
- Dark Side Battles: 2B Hard – First Order Stormtrooper (12 energy)
- Light Side Battles: 9A Hard – First Order Stormtrooper (20 energy)
- Light Side Battles: 6D Hard – First Order Tie Pilot (16 energy)
- Dark Side Battles: 6B Hard – First Order Tie Pilot (16 energy)
- Cantina Battles: 4C – Kylo Ren (10 cantina energy)
- Cantina Battles: 6C – Kylo Ren (12 cantina energy)
First Order and Resistance Packs and Bundles
With new events come new ways to gain those extra needed shards for characters.
First Order Ultimate Bundle
The First Order Ultimate Bundle offers 3 million credits, 6 omegas, and enough other ability mats and gear to take characters to Gear 5 and Ability Level 4. The five First Order characters are all required to gain BB-8, so the bundle could offer a nice start for players now farming First Order.
The Bundle is $79.99 USD and will be available through 10/4/17, offering 80 shards of Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, First Order TIE Pilot, First Order Officer, and First Order Stormtrooper.
Faction Packs
A usual companion to shard Bundles are the Faction Packs. This round, we have Faction Packs available for both First Order and Resistance.
The First Order and Resistance Faction Packs offer the ability to pull 10-330 shards of any of their respective faction’s characters at 699 crystals per pull (up to 10 pulls a day).
Shards are available for the following characters:
- First Order:
- Captain Phasma
- Kylo Ren
- First Order TIE Pilot
- First Order Officer
- First Order Stormtrooper
- Resistance
- Rey
- Finn
- Poe Dameron
- Resistance Pilot
- Resistance Trooper
Shard Store and Fleet Arena Store Updates!
Shard Store:
Any shards earned for characters who are already at 7* convert to Shard Store currency. The Shard Store previously offered shards for General Grevious, temporary new characters following their Marquee Events (such as Nihilus and Fulcrum), two shards of just about all farmable characters within the game, and also a variety of more difficult to acquire gear.
The Shard Store has been updated with not only a better return on the currency for the items available, but the gear in the Shard Store is now more focused on gear that many characters require such as Mk 5 A/KT Stun Gun Prototypes, Mk 3 Carbonati Sensor Array Salvage, and also Mk 3 Czerka Stun Cuffs Salvage! Individual characters have been removed from the Shard Store, except for General Grevious, though there is a chance that new characters may still appear there throughout the release schedule.
The Shard Store as also moving from a single day refresh (with 100 crystals to refresh outside of this) to a 6-hour refresh seen with other stores such as Galactic War.
These changes are very welcome, especially for players who continue to acquire currency from the various shops, but no longer have characters left to acquire there.
Fleet Arena Store:
The Fleet Arena Store has seen some new updates as well. Originally, the Fleet Store offered ship and character shards, purple and zeta ability mats, and also often used, yet hard to acquire gear.
The Fleet Store has been simplified to now include just characters, ships, and ability mats. New characters have also been added to the Fleet Store such as First Order TIE Pilot, a welcome option as he was one of the few ships pilots who was not farmable through the Fleet Store.

Territory Battles Changes
The developers have listened to the plethora of feedback, and aside for keeping Territory Battles at 24 hours per Phase at this time, the developers have also announced several other changes:
- Increased Guild Event Token payout and Mystery Box rewards
- Four-day “cooldowns” in-between the start of each set of Battles
- More randomization within Platoons
- Platoons will no longer require characters that are also required for Special and Combat Missions
- New Special Missions have been added:
- Phase 1 – Requires 5 Phoenix characters at 2*
- Phase 2 – Requires 5 Rogue One characters at 3*
- Phase 4 – Requires Captain Han Solo and Rebel Officer Leia Organa at 5*
More details about the Territory Battles changes are available on the Official Forums.
Speculation ahead! A First Order faction pack is expected with the release of BB-8, but there is also separate packs available for Resistance as well. There is a fair chance that with Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi only a few months away that we will see several new First Order and Resistance characters released for Galaxy of Heroes to celebrate. If we had to wager a guess, there are possibly new Marquee Events in the works that will require one or both of these factions to unlock the new characters, so don’t forget to return often as we provide new details when they emerge!
More speculation! The developers have a history of hinting what we will see in coming weeks and months with small snippets. With the latest update, the developers have dropped this bit:
WHAT’S AHEAD: A team rises from the ashes stronger as a familiar foe returns.
This sounds very much like the “team” that will “rise from the ashes” will be Phoenix Squadron and they are quite likely to get a re-work as well. With a Phoenix re-work, we can only suspect that Grand Admiral Thrawn (Best Mods and Zeta Review) will also be returning quite soon. Be sure to check out previous in-depth reviews of Phoenix Squadron and the Artist of War Legendary Event.
