SWGoH New Character Review: Hera Syndulla

The newest member on most Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes rosters is Star Wars Rebels pilot Twi’lek Hera Syndulla. The daughter of Clone Wars veteran and Twi’lek Resistance leader Cham Syndulla, Hera is the owner of The Ghost, the iconic ship in the Rebels series. Along with Kanan Jarrus and Chopper, Hera is one of the new Star Wars Rebels toons added in March to SWGoH. Zeb Orrelios, Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren are expected to also be added in the coming weeks.

Hera Syndulla - SWGoHA look at Hera Syndulla’s abilities shows her basic, Outwit, causes an expose of the healthiest enemy she is facing when used. On the surface, additional potency does not appear necessary via mods, but research is needed to verify. Meanwhile, her special, Play to Strengths, calls a specific ally to assist granting them 25% extra potency to inflict negative status effects (debuffs) and deals 35% more damage. Strategically, this will fit well with one of the other Star Wars Rebels toons, likely Ezra, Zeb or Sabine.

Backup Plan is Hera’s special ability grants the specified ally 10% health per turn, grants a revive at 80% health and 30% turn meter if defeated and cannot be dispelled. Given Kanan Jarrus has a taunt ability, I can see these two working well together. Finally. Hera’s leader ability, Rise Together, has each Phoenix Squadron ally sharing their unique ability with their fellow Phoenix allies, and when they use a special ability they gain 20% turn meter if Hera is active. For Phoenix allies with less than full health this effect is doubled.

Looking at the kit here Hera’s abilities are pretty impressive. Using her today in the Galactic War was not helpful – her synergies are with the Phoenix Squadron and not Rebels in general. While I’d like to see some added Rebel connection, if you run Hera with Kanan, Ezra, Sabine, Chopper and/or Zeb it should make for a pretty tough group to beat. I know I am looking forward to seeing more from the Phoenix Squadron in the coming weeks.
