SWGoH: Aggressive Negotiations Padme Event Live Blog

SWGoH - Padme Amidala

As I have done for every Legendary SWGoH event in the past two years, I will once again be live blogging my experiences from the new Aggressive Negotiations event to unlock Padme Amidala which takes place beginning on May 2nd. Below I will detail my roster of characters needed and then, once the event is live, I will chronicle my experience fighting the event. All of this will, of course, take place on my personal account and I thank you in advance for your interest.

08.07.19 Update: The second time around is here for the Padme event and the reports are coming in that the reworks of the Separatist faction, especially with the Geonosians, have made this event MUCH easier to handle. That does not take away from the difficulty of the event back in May 2019 or my frustration indicated below, but it does mean that the event should be much smoother for those fighting it today.

Padme Event Characters

Note that I did not have a single Zeta on any of my Separatist characters outside of Asajj Ventress to start this event.

Aggressive Negotiations Padme Event

Due to a full day and the delayed start time of the even I cannot complete this in the morning as hoped. I should be able to start fighting around 9 pm on Thursday evening.

05.02.19 @ 9:35 pm ET – Ok, I finally have time to sit down and fight. I am using my 5 strongest Separatist characters – Count Dooku lead with Asajj Ventress, General Grievous, B2 Super Battle Droid and Sun Fac – all Gear 12.

Tier 1 – Great graphics, I love the Geonosis scene. Facing Padme and Jedi Knight Anakin. Easy win in two hits.

Tier 2 – Facing Padme and Anakin again. Easy win in three hits. Hello there.

Tier 3 – Facing Padme, Anakin and now General Kenobi. Another easy win, but I had to attack a bit more this time.

Tier 4 – Facing Padme, Anakin and GK again. The difficulty is starting to increase as it is taking longer to complete. The Bonus Protection synergy in this group is going to be a pain in the butt at higher levels…

Tier 5 – Facing Padme, Anakin, GK and a Jedi Master Guardian who appears to be a Mon Calamari. B2 is proving to be a hero for me in this battle adding Buff Immunity and dispelling. After JKA was near dead and recovered all of his Health plus Bonus Protection I finally lowered his Health again, dispelled GK’s taunt, and killed JKA. Then some crazy stuff happened, JKA got brought back to life and they killed B2. I am still not sure what happened, but apparently Gear 12 characters are not good enough to unlock Padme as I am going to lose. What the…

Attempt #2 – Using a GG lead (no Zeta) with B2, MagnaGuard, Asajj and Dooku this time. Hoping a small bit of experience will help. This time I chipped away at the Jedi Master Guardian leaving my team weak and their big three with multiple stacks of Bonus Protection each. Their three took advantage taking out my Magnaguard and Asajj and beating me again.

I may choose to reword this at a later date, but I feel the need to say this. I am not a “I deserve” kind of person. You work for things in life and you have to earn them. In gaming, you either are very, very disciplined or you spend and I choose to spend way, way too much on this game and a few others. That having been said, an event like this makes me wonder why. I have five Gear 12 characters with good mods. Not great mods, but good, solid mods. All five are at Gear 12 and Asajj has two Zetas on her. While the team makeup is not ideal, shouldn’t a team of Gear 12 characters be able to at least unlock her at 5 stars? Why spend the money to take Sun Fac or Count Dooku to Gear 12 in the first place?

I will eventually come back and finish this, but after a long day of work and family stuff I don’t feel like giving this game any more of my time (or money) right now.

Okay, I am back again. I have watched this great video from Mobile Gamer about the event and have received the same advice from one of my most trusted guildmates as well – add a Zeta to General Grievous’ unique. So here is a look at my lineup now, with IG-100 Magnaguard now at Gear 12 and a Zeta on GG:

Separatist Characters on my roster used:

  • Asajj Ventress – 7 stars – 23,644 power, 2 zetas – Gear 12(+4), 5-dot mods: 5 gold, 1 purple – CD & Health sets
  • Count Dooku – 7 stars – 17,791 power – Gear 12(+3), 5-dot mods: 4 gold, 1 purple, 1 blue – Speed & Potency sets
  • General Grievous – 7 stars – 20,655 power – Gear 12(+2), 5-dot mods: 1 gold, 2 purple, 3 blue – Health (2) & Potency sets
  • B2 Super Battle Droid – 7 stars – 17,580 power – Gear 12(+1), 5-dot mods: 3 gold, 3 purple – Health, Potency & Tenacity sets
  • IG-100 MagnaGuard – 7 stars – 17,277 power – Gear 12(+0), 5-dot mods: 1 gold, 3 purple, 2 blue – Potency (2) & Health sets

05.04.19 @ 10:55 am ET – It has been a busy end of the week and the late start time of this event really threw off my schedule. I am back and ready to fight with MagnaGuard now at Gear 12 and a zeta on GG’s unique, but no other changes (yet). I am hopeful that this, and a bit more strategy, will help me at least unlock Padme, then I can worry about getting her to 7-stars.

Tier 5 – Facing Padme, Anakin, GK and a Jedi Master Guardian. One key to this battle that I have learned is to take out Padme first then worry about the Jedi, something I didn’t have the time to test with my schedule challenges on Thursday and Friday. B2’s AoE dispel is so important in this battle it is insane. After weakening Padme and then seeing her Health and Protection come back, I finally killed her and lost my MagnaGuard. I then took out JKA because his Health was low and will try to kill the Jolee-kit Jedi Master Guardian next. A couple of stuns made it much easier to kill him before reviving JKA, and now I have a 4 vs 1 with only GK left to beat. GK is awesome, but he is not beating 4 Gear 12 characters and just like that Padme is added to my roster.

Tier 6 – Tier 6 sees us face Padme, Anakin, GK, the Jedi Master Guardian and Mace Windu. Just like the last battle in Tier 5, I focused on Padme and it took a while, but I finally killed her, but again at the expense of my MagnaGuard. However unlike the last battle, it is now a 4 vs 4 battle with Windu included. B2 continues to be the MVP of these battles; I doubt anyone could beat the event without him. With JKA at Health only I was able to remove him from the battle and bow have a 4 vs 3 so I will try to knock out the Jedi Master Guardian. Dooku landed a fortunate Stun on the JMG and then, after another round of turns, an Ability Block before I took him out just before Mace Windu crushed my B2. Now 3 vs 2, I am focusing on Windu with my GG, Dooku and Asajj. A GG Stun of Windu works to my advantage then just GK remains after I take out the purple lightsaber. Again, GK is no match for my characters, and a 6-star Padme has been added to my roster.

For Tier 7 I am confident that my mods are not good enough to win, so I am revamping the mods and borrowing from others on my roster. I will update this below as soon as possible to show the changes and what I will move forward with.

  • General Grievous (leader) – 7 stars – 21,112 power, 2 zetas – Gear 12(+2), Six 6-dot mods: Health (3) sets
  • Asajj Ventress – 7 stars – 23,938 power, 2 zetas – Gear 12(+4), Six 6-dot mods: CD & CC sets
  • Sun Fac – 7 stars – 17,442 power – Gear 12(+0), 5-dot mods: 6 gold – Health (2) & Tenacity sets
  • B2 Super Battle Droid – 7 stars – 20,103 power, zeta – Gear 12(+1), 6-dot mods 1, 5-dot mods: 5 gold – Health (2) & Tenacity sets
  • IG-100 MagnaGuard – 7 stars – 17,832 power – Gear 12(+1), 6-dot mods 4, 5-dot mods: 2 gold – Health (2) & Tenacity sets

Tier 7 – My mods have been upgraded significantly and I have added a Zeta to General Grievous’ leader ability and B2 Battle Droid. I also tried out Count Dooku at 305 speed and got nowhere, so I have replaced him with Sun Fac. I have seen mild success thus far with these teams, but nothing that has me thinking I am close to winning. Investing in B1 and Droideka is not an option right now – I give this game way more than I ever should and I really feel that they are asking a bit much of the whales of late with Darth Revan, Darth Malak and now Padme.

A couple more attempts and I feel like I am getting a little closer, but added gear is likely the key to this happening. I will have to come back to this later after moving my mods back their original characters. This event has quickly been my least favorite in 3+ years of playing Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes.

05.06.19 @ 7:45 am ET – I am back again, apparently a glutton for punishment. With the Grand Arena lock in just over 9 hours I want to try to get Padme to 7-stars before that AND get all of these mods back where they belong. If CG did one thing with this event, they got me to waste tons of time and credits toward re-purposing my mods. This continues to be my worst experience in Galaxy of Heroes to date, but I am in too deep…

I added another Mk 12 ArmaTek Medpac to General Grievous, a Mk 12 ArmaTek Visor to Sun Fac and a G12+ piece to B2 and did more work on mods. Here is what I am going to be using this time:

  • General Grievous (leader) – 7 stars – 21,112 power, 2 zetas – Gear 12(+3), 6-dot mods: 5, 5-dot mods: 1 gold, Health (3) sets
  • Asajj Ventress – 7 stars – 23,893 power, 2 zetas – Gear 12(+4), 6-dot mods: 5, 5-dot mods: 1 gold, CD & CC sets
  • Sun Fac – 7 stars – 17,832 power – Gear 12(+1), 6-dot mods: 4, 5-dot mods: 2 gold – Defense (3) sets
  • B2 Super Battle Droid – 7 stars – 20,523 power, zeta – Gear 12(+3), 6-dot mods 1, 5-dot mods: 5 gold – Health, Potency & Tenacity sets
  • IG-100 MagnaGuard – 7 stars – 17,832 power – Gear 12(+1), 6-dot mods 4, 5-dot mods: 2 gold – Health (2) & Tenacity sets

Tier 7 – I have very little wiggle room at this point other than relying on RNG and $$$ to win this event if I choose to continue after this. I have poured soooo much time into mods that I am starting to resent the game…

More of the same to start – I get Padme down and almost have her dead and then all hell breaks loose. Crazy heals and insanity and the next thing I know it’s over like a MMA fight with a counter punch knockout they never saw coming…

I am quite frustrated at this point, so I am researching more strategy to see what I can learn. First up is AhnaldT101’s 7-star Padme Legendary Guide on YouTube. However, per Ahnald, my kill order and strategy is on-par with what he is saying.

I just finished Ahnald’s video, laughed a little, and attacked again. This was my best result yet getting down to just GK and Mace Windu versus GG, but they beat me of course. It sounds as if this is far easier to beat with the two new Separatist Droids at g12, but seriously, when you have all Gear 12 characters and awesome mods on each there’s a problem if you’re unable to beat the event when using a good strategy.

Just started another battle and Sun Fac was dead in 3 hits. Gear 12, Sun Fac, 85k Health/Protection, 227 speed, 57.2% Armor in 3 hits. Seriously?

Reviewing some things and I have decided to remod Asajj Ventress (again). GK’s auto-taunt is triggered from critical hits, and I have Asajj at 62.85% CC. Switching out the CC mods for sure and likely the CD mods to go Offense and Potency or Health.

05.06.19 @ 8:21 am ET – Back again with Asajj’s CC down to 44.57% and Offense and Health sets on her.

Tier 7 – Hoping that a little good RNG kicks in this time as I do think the changes to Asajj will help since I should have seen that one a while ago…

Lost B2 almost immediately. This is getting old.

SWGoH - Padme EventI didn’t even take a turn this time and Asajj is yellow and MagnaGuard is in the red. Photo for reference. I remember when I was a kid and I always claimed that videos games would cheat. Now I know this is true…

Taking a break to eat some breakfast and allow the frustration to die down a bit.

05.06.19 @ 8:57 am ET – Back again – starting to wonder why.

Tier 7 – After a quick fail I had a nice run where I killed Padme, but that was as far as it went.

Another battle and I was able to trade Padme for MagnaGuard, so I am jumping back into play by play. Now 4 v 4, GK has taunt and GG is set to attack with two characters having Target Lock debuffs. A GG AoE and a B2 AoE and JKA is at about 60% Health, so I am going for the kill, then for Fishy Bindo (Ahnald’s nickname for the Jolee Bindo clone Mon Calamari Jedi). Basic attacks from GG and Asajj and I have JKA dead, but I have to take out the JMG/Fishy Bindo if I wanna have a shot here. I lost B2 but was able to get a GG attack to take out JMG leaving GK and Mace Windu versus my Sun Fac (red health), GG (full health) and Asajj (full health). GK has about 85% health and Mace Windu has 100% health and about 40% protection.

Tier 7 Crunch Time – GK has higher TM and Asajj is up, so I am going to try for a stun on her basic, knowing it is unlikely. The attack worked and Windu hit GG but I am basically in the same spot again. GK has Buff Immunity at the moment, so I’m going to go all-in on killing Windu. First a Sun Fac taunt then GK cleanses leaving WIndu with retribution and crit immunity and GK with Foresight and Offense Up. Ugh. I hit GK with a GG basic and land Healing Immunity, then Windu kills Sun Face. Now 2 v 2. Two more GG basics kills off GK, but Mace Windu has Asajj down to 10% health with Shatterpoint and 2 stacks of Armor Shred. Windu has 100% health and offense up, but it is GG’s turn and Skittering Horror is looking good right about now as I hope for a stun. Landed the Stun, and now Asajj is up and uses a basic. Windu at 50% health and attacks GG who is at about 85% health. GG’s turn and the basic is ready to roll. Windu is down to about 30% health with Healing Immunity and Asajj is up again. Going with another Asajj basic here and Windu is down to about 5% health but counters leaving Asajj at about 10% health. GG is up and… VICTORY!

Now it’s time to spend 15 minutes of my life moving mods around (again). I guess all is well that ends well?
