Recapping Harry Potter Wizards Unite’s Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna

HPWU - Flora & Fauna Special Event

The first Harry Potter: Wizards Unite Special Event began on Wednesday, July 3rd and continues for a total of 7 days. HPWU - Flora & Fauna Special Event Entitled Brilliant Event: Fantastic Flora and Fauna, this HPWU special event is described in the in-game advertisement as:

“The Forbidden Forest has been thrown out of sorts by the Calamity. Lend Hagrid a helping hand by returning the forest’s missing flora and fauna to its proper place.”

The event itself features four sets of three assignments, each rewarding the player for completing the task while also offering an Event Registry page with 6 items to gather fragments of. This includes a Brilliant Unicorn (12 fragments), Brilliant Buckbeak (10 fragments), a Brilliant Young Acromantula (3 fragments), a Brilliant Snargaluff (3 fragments), and one single fragment each of the Brilliant Salamander and Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump. While the Unicorn and Buckbeak were available across the in-game map amongst other Confoundables, the others were a bit more difficult to obtain.

HPWU - Flora & Fauna Special EventThe Brilliant Young Acromantula is obtained from using the event-specific Fantastic Flora and Fauna runestones in Fortresses. The Brilliant Snargaluff is obtained from gathering Wrackspurts from the Forbidden Forest inside a Brilliant Portkey Portmanteau (7 km). The Brilliant Scorched Tree Stump is obtained from completing the second page of assignments and finally the Brilliant Salamander from completing all of the Special Assignments.

The event itself is an enjoyable one and it took me and my wife both about 48 hours to complete, and our son about 72 hours thanks to the Brilliant Portkeys. I would not say that it was overly difficult, but it did take a bit of the grinding effort expected in mobile games today. Personally, I liked the change of pace already in the game as those who play often are undoubtedly getting tired of seeing the same thing over and over again (ex. Ravenclaw student wrapped in vines…). I look forward to more creative events to peak the interest of the player base as the game evolves.
