SWGoH: Unlocking the Grand Inquisitor – Live Blog & Walkthrough

Grand Inquisitor Legendary Event - SWGoH

As I have done for every Legendary and Hero’s Journey event in the past several years, I will once again be live blogging my experiences from the new Grand Inquisitor event. Below I detail my roster of characters needed and then I will chronicle my experience fighting the event.

Finally, once you have unlocked Grand Inquisitor, our best mods for the Grand Inquisitor will be posted for reference, but note that it is a work in progress as testing him will be key.

Dark Times Characters:

All 5 Inquisitorius characters are needed here at 7 stars, Relic 5 or higher.

Tier I:

  • Fifth Brother – 27,243 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (2 Potency & 1 Health set) – 154k health/protection, 288 speed, 84.1% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,331 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Seventh Sister – 29,628 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 127k health/protection, 296 speed, 51.1% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 4,865 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 128k health/protection, 271 speed, 58.1% Potency, 223.5% Critical Damage, 6,293 physical damage
  • Second Sister – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CD & Potency sets) – 124k health/protection, 271 speed, 83% Potency, 266% Critical Damage, 7,787 special damage

Tier I Battle #1 – To start, the Grand Inquisitor says “let’s begin today’s lesson” and attacks. With a 1 v 5 battle this appears to be easy, but the Grand Inquisitor gets a lot of turns in. With any battle with the Inquisitorius faction, you want to pile debuffs onto the target and take advantage. The Grand Inquisitor proves to be a challenging kill, healing each time he attacks, but eventually I use Seventh Sister’s heal on Ninth Sister, then Shock the GI to allow the others to defeat him.

The second wave of this battle is against Luminara Unduli, a character who was relent in the early days of SWGoH. She proves to be much easier to defeat than the Grand Inquisitor and 45 shards of the Grand Inquisitor are the reward.

Tier II:

  • Fifth Brother – 27,243 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (2 Potency & 1 Health set) – 154k health/protection, 288 speed, 84.1% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,331 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Seventh Sister – 29,628 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 127k health/protection, 296 speed, 51.1% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 4,865 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 128k health/protection, 271 speed, 58.1% Potency, 223.5% Critical Damage, 6,293 physical damage
  • Second Sister – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CD & Potency sets) – 124k health/protection, 271 speed, 83% Potency, 266% Critical Damage, 7,787 special damage

Tier II Battle #1 – Once again we start with the Grand Inquisitor in training his team, and this battle starts off rough. I tend to prefer the Fifth Brother’s leadership in Inquisitorius battles, but I am thinking a more survivability-focused leadership may be warranted as I get Ability Blocked immediately and lose Eighth Brother on a AoE lightsaber throw. We go back and forth for a few minutes and I lose Second Sister too, but eventually the Seventh Sister’s Shock is key as she then heals Ninth Sister and I can finish him off.

The second wave is against Ezra Bridger and I lost too much in the first battle. Time to look at better mods and higher Speeds to get that battle right and make this entire Legendary Event run smoother.

Updated Tier II Characters:

  • Fifth Brother – 27,243 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (2 Potency & 1 Health set) – 151k health/protection, 308 speed, 84.1% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,401 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Seventh Sister – 31,281 power, 7-stars, Relic 6, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 125k health/protection, 325 speed, 60% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,330 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 128k health/protection, 271 speed, 58.1% Potency, 223.5% Critical Damage, 6,293 physical damage
  • Second Sister – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, all 6-dot mods (CD & CC sets) – 125k health/protection, 324 speed, 69.5% Potency, 272% Critical Damage, 8,194 special damage

I have placed stats that I changed significantly above in Italics for reference.

Tier II Battle #2 – I stick with Fifth Brother as the leader because I refresh my memory and he has a survivability-focused leadership. Seventh Sister take the first turn with the boosted Speed and adds 2 Purge, a Daze and Ability Block to the Grand Inquisitor, and then Second Sister removes TM and I am able to fight through his Protection much faster this time. Placing debuffs again and again I wear him down and move on.

In the second wave, Ezra Bridger proves to be a real pain in the butt. While it take much longer this time he kills Eighth Brother and eventually Second Sister, but my constant application of debuffs is the key as I earn the 45 shards of the Grand Inquisitor from defeating him.

Tier III Characters:

  • Fifth Brother – 27,243 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (2 Potency & 1 Health set) – 151k health/protection, 308 speed, 84.1% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,401 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Seventh Sister – 31,281 power, 7-stars, Relic 6, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 125k health/protection, 325 speed, 60% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,330 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 126k health/protection, 276 speed, 64.6% Potency, 223.5% Critical Damage, 6,595 physical damage
  • Second Sister – 27,066 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, all 6-dot mods (CD & CC sets) – 125k health/protection, 324 speed, 69.5% Potency, 272% Critical Damage, 8,194 special damage

I made some slight mod changes to Eighth Brother and have these marked above in Italics for reference.

Tier III Battle #1 – I go into battle with 143k power and with Fifth Brother as the leader once again, as the mod changes have really improved my offense and ability to handle the Grand Inquisitor.

The second wave here is Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi tank who I stack debuffs on despite his kit. The key with Kanan is Healing Immunity so he cannot allow the debuffs to heal him back up, and while he cleanses once he does not have the offense to be a threat. Keeping Ability Block on Kanan as well as Healing Immunity are how you beat him, but this battle take a while as he is annoying. Honestly the worst part about this tedious battle is the lack of an Auto button, but I eventually get the 45 Grand Inquisitor shards.

Tier IV Characters:

  • Fifth Brother – 27,522 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, all 6-dot mods (2 Potency & 1 Health set) – 151k health/protection, 335 speed, 104.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,536 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Seventh Sister – 33,178 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 133k health/protection, 340 speed, 56.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,660 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 27,423 power, 7-stars, Relic 5, 5-dot & 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 124k health/protection, 293 speed, 77% Potency, 229.5% Critical Damage, 6,573 physical damage
  • Second Sister – 28,924 power, 7-stars, Relic 6, all 6-dot mods (CD & CC sets) – 129k health/protection, 324 speed, 69.5% Potency, 272% Critical Damage, 8,925 special damage

Small changes from Tier III for Eighth Brother and significant changes for Fifth Brother heading into the first battle attempt.

Tier IV Battle #1 – This battle with the Grand Inquisitor is more annoying as he buffs himself more, inflict Purge on my characters more easily and appears to be able to use his saber throw and apply Ability Block at will. I am able to wear him down in time, but he is getting more and more annoying.

The second wave is a battle with Ahsoka Tano (Fulcrum). She is not a Jedi, and consumes debuffs but dispels them at the end of each turn. I get her to 10 stacks of Focus which should result in -100% Defense, -40% Max Health, +200% Offense, etc. and you’d think that with Relic 5 characters this would not be so bad. So I try, restart, try again, lose, try again, restart, research and try again, and after 15-20 times I invest all available materials I have into more Relic levels and move modes around. In the end I defeat Ahsoka Tano (Fulcrum) with one stack of Armor Shred on her with the following:

  • Second Sister – 30,871 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Offense & Health sets) – 146k health/protection, 327 speed, 84.6% Potency, 242% Critical Damage, 11,060 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Fifth Brother – 30,937 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (1 Potency & 2 Health sets) – 167k health/protection, 335 speed, 104.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 6,492 special damage
  • Seventh Sister – 33,261 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 133k health/protection, 340 speed, 56.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,660 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 30,772 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 125k health/protection, 294 speed, 79.8% Potency, 235.5% Critical Damage, 7,557 physical damage

Tier V Characters:

  • Fifth Brother – 30,937 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (1 Potency & 2 Health sets) – 167k health/protection, 335 speed, 104.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 6,492 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Second Sister – 30,871 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Offense & Health sets) – 146k health/protection, 327 speed, 84.6% Potency, 242% Critical Damage, 11,060 special damage
  • Seventh Sister – 33,261 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 133k health/protection, 340 speed, 56.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,660 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 30,772 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 125k health/protection, 294 speed, 79.8% Potency, 235.5% Critical Damage, 7,557 physical damage

No changes from Tier IV heading into the first battle attempt.

Tier V Battle #1 – This battle with the Grand Inquisitor is more of the same. With a stronger lineup it is an easier battle, but the GI does do more damage to my Ninth Sister than I was used to before.

The second wave is facing Grand Master Yoda. This battle is more annoying than anything as Yoda’s Foresight is the big hurdle, but dispelling his buffs and continuing the attack is key, and an Armor Shred helps me finish him off.

Tier VI Characters:

  • Fifth Brother – 30,937 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (1 Potency & 2 Health sets) – 167k health/protection, 335 speed, 104.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 6,492 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Second Sister – 30,871 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Offense & Health sets) – 146k health/protection, 327 speed, 84.6% Potency, 242% Critical Damage, 11,060 special damage
  • Seventh Sister – 33,261 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 133k health/protection, 340 speed, 56.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,660 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity
  • Eighth Brother – 30,772 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 125k health/protection, 294 speed, 79.8% Potency, 235.5% Critical Damage, 7,557 physical damage

No changes from Tier V heading into the first battle attempt.

Tier VI Battle #1 – This battle with the Grand Inquisitor starts my team out with 5 stacks of Purge but is not a problem. The second wave is against Maul, a character who heals himself when he attacks. I am able to get debuffs on him including Healing Immunity but they do not stick, so I restart and try a Ninth Sister lead. That proves to be a big fail, so I go to Second Sister and that, too is not a good idea. I head back to the Fifth Brother and get an Armor Shred the first time through and that sets up the win with Healing Immunity and a ton of debuffs.

Tier VII Characters:

  • Eighth Brother – 30,772 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (CC & CD sets) – 125k health/protection, 294 speed, 79.8% Potency, 235.5% Critical Damage, 7,557 physical damage
  • Fifth Brother – 30,937 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (1 Potency & 2 Health sets) – 167k health/protection, 335 speed, 104.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 6,492 special damage, Level 7 leader ability
  • Second Sister – 30,871 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Offense & Health sets) – 146k health/protection, 327 speed, 84.6% Potency, 242% Critical Damage, 11,060 special damage
  • Seventh Sister – 33,261 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Speed & Health sets) – 133k health/protection, 340 speed, 56.2% Potency, 150% Critical Damage, 5,660 physical damage
  • Ninth Sister – 30,529 power, 7-stars, Relic 7, all 6-dot mods (Defense, Tenacity & Health sets) – 191k health/protection, 218 speed, 82.8% Potency, 75% Armor, 96.6% Tenacity

No changes from Tier VI heading into the first battle attempt.

Tier VII Battle #1 – This battle with the Grand Inquisitor starts with 6 stacks of Purge on all of my Inquisitorius characters. It proves to be just like the previous battles with the Grand Inquisitor as it does not seem that they did much to him from Tier to Tier. The battle with General Kenobi in the second wave is a lot like the Acklay in the Geonosian Territory Battles – slow and annoying but not that scary anymore. In the end the win was never in question, and I earn the final 60 shards of the Grand Inquisitor.
