SWGoH: In Desperate Need of Upgrades

SWGoH - TFP

The Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes mobile game has survived six long years and still managed to maintain a loyal fan base. Part of its longevity is certainly due to the love of the franchise-players across the globe who are excited to see their favorite characters come to life and fight epic battles.

Another more critical part, however, is the rising trend of bringing old/original content from the game’s release back to relevance; kit reworks, new character synergy, and of course-datacrons and omicrons. While CG has done a wonderful job of reviving content that has fallen far to the wayside, there are a few spots that need some shine. Let’s delve into the top 5 that come to mind.

Jedi Knight Guardian/Jedi Consular

SWGoH - Jedi ConsularThe only two unnamed Jedi in the game are often neglected and unused. Even the Consular, who has a ship, is a rare sight in fleet battles. As someone who has played the game for almost 6 years now, I have fond memories of the Jedi Consular-a character who really drew me into the game. So why not give them some love and attention? Both characters could easily be given the Old Republic tag, making them more viable under Jedi Knight Revan leads, as well as a pair of omicrons that add their stats to the squad in territory wars, making them a fierce defensive squad for those who invested in this presently underdeveloped duo.

Imperial Pilots

Imperial Remnants are a faction-so why not Pilots? The faction would be well justified, with an easy squad made from TIE Fighter Pilot, Imperial Super Commando, Director Krennic, etc. and easily led by either Grand Moff Tarkin or Grand Admiral Thrawn. Tarkin would be the more favorable of the two, as it would give a chance for a slight rework and added ability from his leadership, which would likely contain an omicron for territory wars. Said ability would likely increase their speed, while charging up an AoE barrage from a Star Destroyer fleet or TIE bombardment.

TFP & Imperial Remnants

Speaking of pilots, TIE Fighter Pilot is another strangely underrated character, despite being one of the fastest characters in the game. The Imperial Remnant tag only hosts 4 characters, yet in The Mandalorian we see a number of pilots engage in air combat with the main character and his supporting cast. An alteration or even add-on of his kit would certainly bring some life to the not-quite-complete party, and give a character collecting dust some deserved attention.

Kit Fisto

SWGoH - Kit FistoKit Fisto has long been on my list of “why is he so terrible in this game?!” Right alongside Mace Windu (prior to his rework). As a character who was present at the Battle of Geonosis which sparked the Clone Wars, and shown as a pilot, there is enormous potential for this character in-game. A rework for him would absolutely require adding the Hero tag for the Republic Offensive TB, as well as a ship to help build enough for a secondary Galactic Republic fleet. His kit (pun intended) would also likely get a TB omicron that dramatically increases his damage to separatist enemies and shares his offense/counter chance with GR Jedi allies, making him a desired staple for the phase 4 mission that requires Ki-Adi-Mundi and Shaak Ti.

Endurance

SWGoH - EnduranceSpeaking of Galactic Republic, the Endurance is the worst capital ship in the game (I’m sorry, Master Windu, but you know it to be true). It has the potential to become an amazing defensive fleet with his Convergence “ultimate”, however the game has advanced so far that even getting his ultimate off would be a surprise, and barely make a dent. The Endurance would be the first capital ship to be significantly reworked to the point of an overhaul, with higher target lock synergy that gets passively added to GR and Jedi ships, and the ultimate additionally granting all ships (including the Endurance)damage immunity/instant defeat immunity for 2 turns.

And there we have it! While the game we love to hate and hate to love has made tremendous strides in improving aging content, these are just a sample of content that could use a little grease and shine. Keep up with your farms, holotable heroes-and relic (and Zeta, and Omicron) your Mace!
