SWGoH: Rise of the Empire – Phase 1 Dark Side Fleet Combat Mission with Scythe

Scythe in Rise of the Empire Territory Battle - SWGoH

The newest Territory Battles are here as the Rise of the Empire Territory Battle was launched in December 2022, with this latest battle open to be fought for the first time on January 9th, 2023. Unlike previous Territory Battles in SWGoH, the Rise of the Empire TB features Light Side, Dark Side and Neutral paths and Platoons are now called Operations and character used in Operations now have minimum Relic levels.

The Rise of the Empire Territory Battle features six Phases which last 24 hours each. Each of the six Phases of the event has a Special Mission rewarding Mk III Guild Event Tokens in Phases 1, 4, 5 and 6 and Reva (Third Sister) shards in Phase 3.

The following is a Walkthrough of my experiences in Phase 1 that will be updated over time. Specifically, this covers the Dark Side Fleet Combat Mission on the top, right that requires the Scythe and Dark Side ships.

Phase 1 Dark Side Fleet Combat Mission Battle Notes:

01.09.23 – I go in for my first attempt with the Scythe in the Rise of the Empire Territory Battle in SWGoH. I have watched two videos to prep for this, one was a miserable failure and one worked, so here we go.

Facing the Malevolence the enemies go after the Scythe and kill one of my TIE Fighters. I use another TIE’s special to gain Foresight, and it gets marked (as planned), then Vader adds Target Locked to the Hyena Bomber. The Scythe uses the middle ability to heal up and add Formation stacks, then I reinforce with the TIE Bomber and the Hyena Bomber is dead. The Bomber taunts and drops fire, but it is dispelled and the Scythe takes another hit before another TIE uses a special, gains Marked, dodges and then is killed. I put hits  on Sun Fac and the Scythe uses the 3rd ability to heal again and hit SF. SF attacks my Bomber, which has Retribution and kills the Geo ship leaving two Vulture Droids on the screen, one being a summoned ship. We trade hits and I keep hitting the original Vulture Droid until it is dead and 400k Territory Points are mine.

01.24.23 – Fighting this again with the same lineup and a bit stronger at 605k power, the enemies gang up early on Scythe and take it out, derailing the entire battle. As we discussed in our guild, this battle is heavy on RNG and it was not in my favor this time.

02.07.23 – I decide to try something different and see how the new TIE Defender looks and find that the RNG factor in the beginning of this battle does not go my way. I land a couple of hits, dodge with the TIE fighters, but cannot bring in a reinforcement because of the Scythe’s add-ons. This allows the enemies to slice through the Scythe and TIE Bomber, and just when it looks like I am dead, I bring in the TIE Defender. I land a few hits, dodge several attacks, and when given the choice, bring in the EMperor’s Shuttle and cleanse the TIE Defender which has 3 stacks of Buzz Droids. The Executrix uses the ultimate and now I am in business. Both tanks are low health so I continue to hit them and then bring in the TIE/IN Interceptor Prototype. I kills off Sun Fac and the Hyena Bomber and this battle’s momentum is all in my favor. The Defender dodges more attacks and I finish the enemies off with a second ultimate from Tarkin’s ship for the 400k Territory Points.

My Roster of Characters:

  • Executrix – 73,222 power
  • Scythe – 103,574 power
  • Imperial TIE Fighter – 66,635 power
  • Guantlet Starfighter – 64,941
  • Reinforcements: TIE Defender, TIE/IN Interceptor Prototype, Imperial TIE Bomber & Emperor’s Shuttle

04.18.23 – Starting the battle, my Scythe is dead before I take a single turn, and both 5th Brother and the Grand Inquisitor are Relic 8 with all 6-dot mods… Ouch. From here I look to place hits on the enemy Hyena Bomber as I chip away at this massive iceberg. Using the summoned TIE Fighters’ special attacks, I gain foresight with both which grants critical extra Turn Meter to the Executrix and use the AoE as my first attack, wishing I had instead used the basic to get Tenacity Down. I cleanse with the Guantlet to remove Buzz Droids and I lose the Gauntlet shortly after this lone turn. I survive until I am able to call the TIE Defender and this turns the tide of the battle. Yes, I had good RNG the rest of the way in this battle, but the use of the TIE Defender was the key reason this worked. I keep attacking the Hyena Bomber and eventually Sun Fac starts to force me to attack him with Taunt. I am able to kill Sun Fac and I feel like I have accomplished something, and the TIE/IN Interceptor Prototype is my next reinforcement. With Sun Fac dead I focus on the Hyena Bomber, or when he is not taunting, any Geonosian ships. I fought this while very distracted, so if the one that appeared on the left was the Geo Soldier or Spy, I cannot say. The foresight for the TIE Defender and Interceptor is key to the Capital Ship gaining TM and I eventually get to use the ultimate only to see it barely put a dent in the enemies. I kill off the Hyena Bomber finally when the Emperor’s Shuttle is called into the battle, then I finally lose my TIE Defender. I have to identify which of the enemy Vulture Droids is the original one and not a summoned attacker, and with just the TIE Bomber and Emperor’s Shuttle remaining, I get the kill shot and score the 400k Territory Points for my guild.
