Welcome to the best mods for the Cal Kestis, the latest article in our series about the popular game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at how to best mod sets for each SWGoH character. While we do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, we do our own research and have used every character we write about extensively. These are mod recommendations based on the character’s kit and actual gameplay to help you in your quest to dominate the Galaxy of Heroes holotables.
Cal Kestis, a character that many casual Star Wars fans would not know, is a Survivor of Order 66 who was a Jedi Padawan and went into hiding for year. The lead character in EA’s popular Jedi Fallen Order video game, Kestis starts his story as a scrap yard worker tearing apart old Galactic Republic Capital Ships to help the Empire turn them into Star Destroyers and other ships for their new Fleet. While the game follows Kestis’ journey to reconnect his broken connection to The Force, his purpose in SWGoH is to be an Unaligned Force User who acts as a Support character as the character release leads us up to the release of the new Jedi Survivor game from EA. Let’s take a look at which mods will best enhance Cal’s kit in Galaxy of Heroes.
Main focus: Health. Keeping Cal alive is the key as he is a fantastic Support character.
Secondary Focus: Potency, Tenacity and survivability in the forms of Defense, Health and Protection. Potency will help Cal Kestis land a variety of debuffs including Defense Down, Speed Down, Evasion Down, Tenacity Down and more. The more I read over his kit, the more I see Cal as one of those characters that should get a 100%-120% or higher Potency stat given how important his debuffs are to his effectiveness. Given he maxes at 27% Potency at Gear 13 and Potency does not scale with Relic levels, a Potency cross and high Potency secondary stats are essential. While his Physical Damage stat is not bad, in-game testing makes him feel like he is hitting enemies with a pillow and not a lightsaber, so stay away from Offense. Tenacity will help fight off red icons above Cal’s head, but the survivability stats are where you want to focus for this character but does not need to be a major focus. His unique grants him and other Unaligned Force Users (UFU) +30% Max Health and +30% Tenacity to start each battle, so I would work to boost Health first and add more Protection and Defense when possible as well. Note that Cere Junda’s leadership grants UFUs +20% Max Health, Protection and Defense, so this duo will be defensively stout working together.
Speed Priority: 0/10 – Like Droideka and few others in Galaxy of Heroes, Cal does not need Speed and is better without it, so save your extra Speed secondaries and Speed mods for other characters.
In-game Mod Recommendations: Health & Potency. No disagreement here as this is spot-on with my assessment.
Ideal Mod Setup for Cal Kestis:
Maximizing stats is the goal of how we use mods and the reason I write these articles and have for 5+ years. For Cal Kestis he is here to help his team’s survivability and to land debuffs. Focus on very strong Potency and Health stats and build from there. Here is my recommendation for the best mod approach for Cal Kestis:
- Transmitter (Square) – Potency mod with Offense primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and defense
- Receiver (Arrow) – Health mod with Health primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and defense
- Processor (Diamond) – Health mod with Defense primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and defense
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – Potency mod with Health primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and defense
- Data-Bus (Circle) – Health mod with Health primary and a secondary focus on potency, health, protection and defense
- Multiplexer (Plus) – Health mod with Potency primary and a secondary focus on health, defense, protection and tenacity
