Capital Games released the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes calendar of events for June yesterday giving us the month’s roadmap for what to expect. While some of that information came as a rather unwanted surprise (no Grand Arena tournaments scheduled), the announcement of the C-3PO, Thrawn and Imperial Chimaera Legendary events was certainly welcome news to many. And of course, we learned that, for the second time this year, a ship is the daily login character for the month.
Of course the community has been abuzz with discussions of the state of SWGoH of late, so much so that Mobile Gamer and AhnaldT101 made a video addressing it, CubsFanHan announced his addition of movie reviews to his channel and we here at Gaming-fans.com acquired MarvelStrikeForceTips.com. But with all of this aside, one would think Capital Games would do whatever they could to keep a professional, positive look for the public in an effort to show stability. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
While I know I am nitpicking, this month’s calendar features not one blatant error, but a rather easy to spot misspelling as well. As I stated in a post in the “GameChangers” chat to our CG developer contact, I have offered to help the studio on proofreading and marketing communications for over 2 years, dating back to EA Jesse running the GameChangers program. I am certainly not perfect, but I do review all content that is published on Gaming-fans.com after serving as the Content Director every day of this site’s existence, and I have been editing online content for over a decade after completing multiple Journalism courses as part of my college degree. What I struggle with is how a post has been up on the EA Galaxy of Heroes forums for 26 hours (it was posted at 6:19 pm ET on the 28th and updated at 8:20 pm on the 29th) with Chimaera spelled “Chimera” and a blatantly incorrect date for the Artist of War Mythic event. Personally, I expect more out of a studio owned by a Fortune 500 company like Electronic Arts; far more than I do out of a fan site or a YouTube publisher. But I feel that this trend is something that continues to be a problem for the studio (see the recent Galactic Upgrade kit pricing). I know that I personally have corrected typos multiple times in previous calendars when they were sent to Gaming-fans.com to publish for the community in the past. I am not going to list my collection of evidence supporting my argument in this article, but I can tell you that it has been enough of a concern that I have started, and chosen not to proceed with, articles on the topic maybe a dozen times in the past year.
So while the above is quite concerning, let’s do what I always try to do and take a look at some more positive areas of the game and what to expect. First, the Umbaran Starfighter is the daily login character for June, but what does this mean? We know that the Clone Wars era will continue to get the studio’s focus, so I expect a rework of the existing Clones and/or the addition of new Clone characters in June. While the calendar does not appear to have time to introduce the new Geonosis Territory Battles this coming month, expect to see Clones as a faction needed in the new piece of game content that we so badly need.
In addition we have three Legendary events scheduled in June. First, the Contact Protocol C-3PO event starts on June 6th, followed by the Grand Admiral Thrawn Artist of War event starting June 20th and the Legendary event to unlock the Imperial Chimaera Capital Ship two days later. For those looking to unlock these characters or upgrade their star counts, this will be a big month for certain, but for endgame players this offers little to get excited for.
Finally, a post yesterday on the EA SWGoH forums addressed the lack of scheduled Grand Arena tournaments in June. It stated the following:
Hi folks,
The June calendar is live and you may have noticed that there are no Grand Arenas this month. It’s no secret that Grand Arena Championships are coming to the holotables soon and due to the release process, this unfortunately means we cannot run Grand Arena during this month without causing issues to the game.
In light of this, we are looking to offset the rewards you normally receive with some other events. Stay tuned.

While I applaud the studio for getting in front of this topic and addressing it early, this is a real kick in the groin to a lot of players, especially endgame players who are lacking challenge. I have seen a drastic decline in the interest in this game of late from my guild, alliance and private discussions with SWGoH influencers, and I fear that not having the Grand Arena in June will only add to this.
All of this having been said, I hope that the month of June is a positive one for SWGoH and that we get some kind of teaser to whet the appetites of what is to come for SWGoH players across the globe.
