Welcome to the Best Mods for Lobot, the latest article in our series about the popular game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for individual SWGoH characters. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every toon I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations and they are certainly not the only options for modding this character. However we look to help players maximize their rosters in SWGoH and we are always open to feedback if you have a mod setup that works well with your gameplay.
Today’s character to review mods for is Rebel support Lobot. First introduced to the Star Wars world in Cloud City on his home planet of Bespin in The Empire Strikes Back, Lobot is best known for the AJ^6 cyborg construct on his head and his work for Lando Calrissian. While he had a small role in the Star Wars movies, his role in SWGoH was even smaller from 2016-2023, but an August 2023 rework may change this Day 1 kit dramatically. Yes, Lobot was basically a forgotten character in Galaxy of Heroes, unless of course you’re making a list of the worst/least valuable characters in SWGoH. That having been said, this rework could breathe new life into him as we review the best mods for Lobot for those interested in powering him up.
Main Focus: Almost every character needs Speed, and Lobot is no different. He has always been most valuable against teams that land a lot of debuffs as he can dispel negative status effects. When played alongside droid allies as he gains 5.5% Speed and 5.5% Tenacity for each living droid ally. Thus, when used with four droids he gains a 22% Speed boost and 22% added Tenacity. That 22% Speed, when alongside a set of Speed mods, can make that 120 base Speed relevant, but starting at 140 Speed really makes this investment a tough one to justify even given Lobot’s increased value in the game today. One key item that the rework puts into place is the fact that Lobot gains the Droid tag when” the ally in the Leader slot is a Light Side Droid Leader.” This is significant under a Sortie (50R-T) lead given she grant +35% Defense and +35 Speed to all Droids under her lead.
Additional Areas to Focus: Potency and survivability in the form of Health and Defense would be the other areas to focus on if one was to seriously focus time and materials on Lobot. His basic, Calculated Aggression, can land the Defense Down debuff while his Optimize special dispels negative status effects from all allies and recovers 7% of their Max Health. So while this is not based on Lobot’s Max Health, increasing his Health will still benefit him specifically when the special is used. While Lobot gains Tenacity as mentioned above, his base 33% Tenacity and gains 5.5% Tenacity for each living droid ally with an Omega on his Parallel Processing unique, it is hard to place any more focus on Tenacity as the starting point is so poor. Added Defense will compound that nice +35% Defense boost when used under a Sortie lead, and finally, if you were to use him as a leader, his Cloud Computing leader ability grants droid allies 25 Speed and 10% Potency and has room for a future Zeta ability, but given the fact it took almost 8 years to get this update, I would not hold my breath on another update to Lobot.
In-game Mod Recommendations: Speed & Health. I cannot really disagree much as this is likely the old set of dev recommendations, but I see more value in Defense mods now over Health after the rework and the apparent synergy with 50R-T.
Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH Lobot:
Lobot is one of those characters who was great to place mods on to “store” them for the future and then refer to the filters on swgoh.gg for reference when needed for another character. I wrote in 2018, “while the developers at CG will likely give him value in the future through some new piece of content, for now his value is low and we have to be realistic about that.” This has proven to be true and as a result, here is my (revised) recommended Mod setup for Lobot:
- Transmitter (Square) – Defense mod with a primary focus on offense and a secondary focus on speed, health, defense and potency or tenacity
- Receiver (Arrow) – Speed mod with a primary focus on speed and a secondary focus on defense, potency, health and tenacity
- Processor (Diamond) – Speed mod with a primary focus on defense and a secondary focus on speed, health, defense and potency or tenacity
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – Speed mod with primary focus on health or defense and a secondary focus on speed, health, defense and potency or tenacity
- Data-Bus (Circle) – Speed mod with primary focus on health and a secondary focus on speed, health, defense and potency or tenacity
- Multiplexer (Plus) – Potency mod with primary focus on health, defense or tenacity and a secondary focus on speed, health, defense and potency or tenacity
