SWGoH: Best Mods for Doctor Aphra

Doctor Aphra - SWGoH

Welcome to the best mods for Doctor Aphra, latest article in our series about the popular game Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for each SWGoH character. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every character I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations and they are certainly not the only option. However we look to help players maximize their characters in SWGoH and we are always open to feedback if you have a mod setup that works well of your gameplay.

Doctor Aphra - SWGoHToday’s character to review is Doctor Aphra, a December 2022 addition to SWGoH and the next big thing in the game. Alongside the murder driod partners BT-1 and 0-0-0 (aka Triple-Zero), this trio is set up for 3v3 Grand Arena battle success and is set to be an important part of the Rise of the Empire Territory Battle. In SWGoH, Doctor Aphra is a Dark Side Leader and Support character with the Scoundrel tag. Let’s take a look at what mods to use on Doctor Aphra to maximize her on your roster.

Main Focus: Potency. While a base Speed of 174  makes Doctor Aphra a candidate for a Speed set, I lean toward three Potency sets with very high Speed secondaries instead. Here is why. As a Leader, Doctor Aphra gains 50% Turn Meter if BT-1 is present and 50% if Triple Zero is present. As a result, she’s going to take the first turn (unless Han Solo or Wat Tambor is against her) no matter how fast she is. Thus, I would look to sync her up with BT-1 and 0-0-0 as I lean toward having BT-1 as the slower, more offensive character of the two droids which means fitting Doctor Aphra is the key.

The reasons for Potency are numerous. To start, she can land debuffs like Accuracy Down and Doubt on enemies, and her summoned Hacked Commando Droid can inflict Breach and Target Lock. In addition, the Hacked Commando Droid deals damage with bonuses based on Doctor Aphra’s Potency. Finally, she can Siphon Potency where she literally drains Potency from and enemy in-battle and she gains that amount. She also can deal more damage based on her Potency with an Omicron on her Rogue Archeology special.

Additional Areas to Focus: Speed, Offense, CC/CD and survivability in the form of Protection and Health. You definitely want very high Speed secondary stats on your mods for Doctor Aphra, the question is whether to use a Speed set and a Potency set, or three Potency sets. Saving the Speed set for other characters may be a smart move here. Offense will help boost Doctor Aphra’s strong base Special Damage stat which is Top 20 in SWGoH at the time of this writing. Critical Chance and Critical Damage should not be ignored as Triple Zero will boost CC by 15% when she has 2+ stacks of Translation, but I would not go out of my way to load her CC and CD stats up if it hurts the others mentioned here. Protection is valuable because Doctor Aphra gains 10% Max Protection with each use of her basic. Not Bonus Protection or Protection Up, Max Protection. This means that Doctor Aphra becomes more survivable as the battle wears on as 0-0-0’s unique allows allies to recover Protection on kills of non-droid enemies. Health will also be helpful given that a single stack of Translation grants the buffed ally +30% Max Health.

In-game Mod Suggestions: Speed & Potency. It is hard to argue with the devs Capital Games right after a new character has been released as they are usually perfectly aligned with how I see things. That having been said, I am going with fast Potency mods due to the fact that my own Speed mods are a bit depleted from so many fast newer characters and the lack of need for a high use of Potency mods in the game right now, plus the reasons listed above.

Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH Doctor Aphra:

As mentioned above, Speed and Potency are both quite important to Doctor Aphra’s kit. Here are my thoughts on the best mods for Doctor Aphra in SWGoH:

  • Transmitter (Square) – Potency/Speed mod with a primary focus on offense and a secondary focus on speed, potency, offense and health or protection
  • Receiver (Arrow) – Potency/Speed mod with a primary focus on speed and a secondary focus on potency, offense, protection and health or critical chance
  • Processor (Diamond) – Potency mod with a primary focus on defense and a secondary focus on speed, potency, offense and health or protection
  • Holo-Array (Triangle) – Potency mod with a primary focus on offense or critical damage and a secondary focus on speed, potency, offense and health or protection
  • Data-Bus (Circle) – Potency/Speed mod with primary focus on health or protection and a secondary focus on speed, potency, offense and health or protection
  • Multiplexer (Plus) – Potency/Speed mod with primary focus on potency and a secondary focus on speed, potency, health, protection and offense or critical chance
