Welcome to the Droideka mods guide, the latest article in a series about Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for individual characters. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every toon I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations based on the character’s kit and actual gameplay to help you in your quest to dominate the Galaxy of Heroes holotables.
Today’s toon to review mods for is one of the new characters added to the Separatist Droid faction, the Droideka. Originally designed to fit under a General Grievous lead, the Droideka fits in nicely with the February 2019 Separatists Droid faction additions & reworks alongside the B1 Battle Droid and more. Let’s take a look at the Droideka’s mods to endure he is highly effective on your team.
Main Focus: Offense. If you’re going to be using the Separatists Droid faction extensively, Droideka needs to be a hard-hitter on your team. Given he deals “true damage,” Critical Chance and Critical Damage are a waste, so be sure to use a 4-mod Offense set on Droideka with low or no Speed. See below for details.
Additional Areas to Focus: Tenacity, Potency, survivability in the form of Protection and avoid Speed at all costs. Note that Droideka is one of those rare characters, like Cal Kestis, where you actually want to completely avoid a specific stat, in this case Speed. His basic, Twin Blaster Cannons, with an Omega, deals “true damage…which scales based on the difference in their Speed.” Thus, you want your Speed difference to be as great as possible to make this attack even more effective while you gain stacks of Charge to potentially one-shot your opponent. Tenacity is a focus to ensure he does not get red icons above his head which can impact his ability to be as effective. Potency is not a major issue but gaining more is going to help land the Target Lock debuff from Destructive Armament. Protection is a very important stat to boost because, in the case of the Droideka, his calls for him to recover Protection. Note this is NOT the same as Protection Up; recovering Protection (like Kylo Ren) means you can gain back any Protection you have lost, but never exceeding your Max Protection number.
Speed Priority: 1/10 – Droideka is really anti-Speed, and you want even less Speed on Droideka even than his Separatist Droid teammate B2 Super Battle Droid.
In-game Mod Recommendations: Offense & Critical Chance. Once again, these “advanced” mod tips from CG are general, but this one is downright wrong. Droideka deals true damage which is described in-game as “can’t critically hit.” So if you cannot score crits why do you need CC? Our recommendations are above so I would suggest that you follow our recommendations with a heavy focus on Offense and Protection and ignore the developers here.
Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH Droideka:
The Droideka has a unique kit that is fun to use in-game. To maximize his abilities and use him effectively and efficiently, I recommend the use of a set of four Offense mods and a set of two Tenacity or Health mods with as little Speed as possible from the secondary stats. Thus, here is my preferred mod setup for the B1 Battle Droid:
- Transmitter (Square) – Offense mod with a primary focus on offense and a secondary focus on offense, protection and tenacity
- Receiver (Arrow) – Offense mod with a primary focus on offense or protection and a secondary focus on offense, protection and tenacity
- Processor (Diamond) – Tenacity/Health mod with a primary focus on defense and a secondary focus on offense, protection and tenacity
- Holo-Array (Triangle) – Offense mod with a primary focus on offense or protection and a secondary focus on offense, protection and tenacity
- Data-Bus (Circle) – Offense mod with a primary focus on protection and a secondary focus on offense, protection and tenacity
- Multiplexer (Plus) – Tenacity/Health mod with a primary focus on offense or protection and a secondary focus on offense, protection and tenacity
Note: Transmitter, Processor and Data-Bus mods are MUCH more common. If you can maximize the stats from these using a MK V, Tier A mod that is ideal.
