Fear The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I began fighting node over a week ago with each board taking 2-3 days to complete for the most part. While I admitted before that this team (below) may not be an ideal team makeup for this game mode, I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and open Ultron.
Also be sure to check out the video linked in the graphic below from Marvel Strike Force Envoy YouTuber Khasino as he reviews Fear The Darkness Battles 6 and 7 in the video linked. Note that Khasino’s content is Rated PG-13 (language).

Fear The Darkness – Mission 7
Cable, 1.91 million power
06.27.19 – After a fantastic run on Mission 6 yesterday, I did not have the time to start Battle #7 as well. While that slows me down a good bit, the live blog is something I am dedicated to doing each time to help the community.
This battle has 31 enemies to defeat and starts with 8 on the screen that look to be quite difficult – 2 Lokis, 2 Cables, a Deadpool, 2 Hydra Armored Guards (HAG) and a Hawkeye. I start to hit one Loki but after a few turns the two tanks begin to taunt, so my offensive focus is stuck on one of them. The difficulty of this battle shows early as my efforts to focus on a single target are thwarted time and time again, and the Hydra tanks recover health making any progress made on them lost between taunts. I am able to take out one of the Lokis and then heal with Minn-erva after several turns, and Loki’s mirrors of himself are great to kill off to boost health and cooldowns for the Cosmic trio. Hawkeye is the second to die after bleed debuffs and AoE attacks really weaken him making him an easy target. I lose Thanos but in the process get Deadpool down to red health, then finish him off and revive the Mad Titan. I now have a HAG and Cable in red and will work on killing both off and weaken a few others so that when the reinforcements arrive, I do not have a big time gap between kills to rejuvenate my Cosmis trio. One HAG goes down and reinforcements appear in the forms of 2 Wolverines and a Spider-Man. I take out the remaining original group, with the exception of a HAG, and a new HAG, Cable and Deadpool arrive. I continue to trade hits and finally kill the original HAG to heal Thanos a bit, and now 6 enemies are on-screen and 23/31 remain. Spidey is getting my offensive focus given he is a major annoyance in battles like this, and it really does not take long to remove him and move on to fight Cable. Once Cable is defeated another Cable, Deadpool and Wolverine appear placing 8 enemies on the screen and 21 remaining. I take down Deadpool, and have a 70% health Wolverine to shift my focus to. Since he is a self-healer I want to take advantage of the progress already made and remove him given nobody on this screen worries me greatly. Once this one Wolverine is down it is on to Deadpool to eliminate some offense, and when he is down Cable is up next. Once he is down, the reinforcements do not appear to be in any hurry to come with just 2 Wolverines and a HAG on-screen, so I look to take the HAG out and see who joins him.
Now 16 of 31 enemies remain with two Wolverines the only ones on-screen until one hit later when Loki, Cable, Deadpool, Spider-Man and a HAG join them. Loki will be my target to take out first and while it takes some time and a well-timed stun, I remove him without his stealth move coming into play. Next on my hit list are Spider-Man followed by Cable and Deadpool. I continue to survive and heal as needed while trying to not place debuffs on Deadpool, then after a ton of attacks Deadpool and Cable go down one turn after the other causing 2 Hawkeyes, a HAG, a Cable and a Deadpool to appear. 12 enemies remain with 8 on the screen as I am going to try and remove one or both Hawkeyes due to the high annoyance factor and buff cleansing. Once one Hawkeye is down I see that a HAG is in red, so I might as well remove him too, leaving 6 enemies on the screen. After taking out the other Hawkeye, Cable and then Deadpool are next. It has become clear that I can finish this board in one attack if all goes according to plan, so even with 8 enemies left it is just a matter of picking them off 1 by 1 at this point. Now 3 enemies remain on-screen – 2 Wolverines and a HAG, so I am weakening two of them to prepare for the next wave. Once one is killed the final 4 enemies to appear are Loki, Cable, Deadpool and Spider-Man. Loki will now be the main focus with a very weak HAG ready to fall over dead in a hit or two when needed. Once Loki is dead i move on to Spidey, with Deadpool and Cable up next. After more than 30 minutes of fighting (and writing) Mission 7 is down with my rewards being 200k gold and 8k Gold Orb Fragments.
After opening Ultron:
After opening Ultron you fight these battles once again in order to power him up and gain more rewards, only this time you have a lot more orange gear and (hopefully) more Gear 13 characters. While I am not going to live blog these battles, I will share my teams and results in case that helps others see what is effective. I now have 11 at Gear 13: Black Panther, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Jessica Jones, Minn-erva, Nick Fury, Phoenix, Quake, Star-Lord, Thanos and Vision.
Day 1, Battle 1 (1 total): Captain Marvel, Star-Lord, Thanos, Minn-Erva and Jessica Jones (260k) – First off, the next time you wonder where your day went when the time flies by, you now have an answer. Where did the day go? It went to Mission 7 of Fear The Darkness. Fighting 31 enemies is one thing, but this was so drawn out and strategic in terms of the kill orders and difficulty of specific enemies that it became tedious at the end. I used a strategy similar to that of above, only with two dispellers on my team this time around I was not trapped hitting the taunters as often. I focused on Loki first, attackers second, tanks third and Wolverine last. I cut it close with Minn-erva a couple of times, but was able to clear the board in one attack once again by spamming ability energy and healing well.
