MSF: Dread The Darkness Live Blog – Mission #1

Dread The Darkness - Mission 1

Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting it today after finally getting my 5th character to Gear 14. While I admitted before that this team (below) may not be an ideal team makeup for this game mode, I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.

Dread The Darkness – Mission 1

Hela, 7,701,058 enemy health

04.27.20 – My team checks in at 445k power. Looking this team over and I can see that this will be quite a challenge. Hela, Ghost Rider, Mysterio, Falcon, Groot, Doctor Strange, Colossus, Psylocke and two Cyclops greet me on a board with 20 total enemies. I will be focusing all attacks on Doctor Strange to start since he has a revive ability.

Phoenix is down and Dark Phoenix is summoned after 4-5 hits and it is instantly clear that my defense will not hold in any of these battles. I take a plethora of hits and lose the SHIELD Trooper rather quickly, then Phoenix gets to work a little magic and take out Doc Strange. After that I throw a few attacks on Hela and before I know it I am dead. Wow. This is gonna take a while…

04.28.20 – Day 2 of my attacks after doing about 1.5m damage yesterday. Hoping to find the enemies have not healed up too much overnight. 😉 19 of 20 remain with Hela barely alive and all others around 60% health. One hit from CM kills Hela and the dance has started. Phoenix absorbs debuffs, gets hit a bunch, becomes Dark Phoenix and her attack and a Punisher AoE has weekend my opponents greatly. I take out Falcon and then Colossus taunts and Groot puts on a Deathproof. I am able to use the Phoenix ultimate and kill off a Cyclops nearly eliminate Colossus before my team gets decimated.

04.29.20 – Day 3 begins with 15 enemies remaining and 10 on the screen to start. Colossus, Cyclops and Groot are in the red, Psylocke is below 50% health and the rest are green. CM’s ultimate attack is up first, and I am going to go after Cyclops and Colossus first. I am able to remove both before a single member of my party is dead. I decide to take Groot out next which proves to be a good move and then Phoenix becomes Dark Phoenix after taking several hits and kills off Psylocke leaving 12 enemies (one is a summoned Loki). While Dark Phoenix does get to use her ultimate attack it takes a similar effort from Ultron to kill off Loki before my team dies off.

04.30.20 – As I start Day 4 on this first mission the enemy health remaining is about 3.0m of 7.7m and I have 10 of 20 enemies left to defeat. 6 enemies are on the screen as I start with Cyclops in red health, Mysterio, Colossus and Psylocke in yellow and Falcon and Ghost Rider in the green. I take out Mysterio just before Phoenix changes to her Dark self and it works out well, eliminating the extra Mysterio and killing off Cyclops. Now 8 enemies remain and all 8 are on the screen after Hela, another Colossus, Cyclops and Ghost Rider all join the party. While the battle quickly unravels, I am able to kill off Psylocke and a Colossus before I am done, setting things up for tomorrow or the next day.

05.03.20 – Day 5 is two days late after a busy weekend has tied up my time. I play 5 grind-it-out games daily at a high level so this happens from time to time. One good note for me is the addition of all of the silver promotion credits has seen my Captain Marvel improve from 4 Red Stars and 90,670 power to 5 Red Stars and 100,813 power.

The enemy has 1.982m health remaining, and I will start with 6 enemies, so this will be interesting to see if I can get it done today or just set up a future date. Now at 456,030 total power I enter the battle against two Ghost Riders, Hela, Falcon, Colossus and Cyclops. Only Falcon is not in the green for health and he is at about 35-40% health overall.

One hit from CM on Falcon has him in the red, but a few hits from the bad guys and Ultron and Punisher are below 50% health already. Phoenix stealths the team, then takes several hits to make her transformation which kills off Falcon, and now I get to attack a team of 5, all with defense down. I have Hela, Colossus and Cyclops all at 10% health or lower so I am going in for the kill(s). Cyclops is the first to die, then Hela attacks and SHIELD Trooper takes her out to set up Dark Phoenix and her ultimate ability. She attacks, leaving just the two Ghost Riders alive, then they kill her off fast. Now 2 enemies face my team of 4 (+3 Ultron minions) and I am hopeful that I can get this done. I kill off one Ghost Rider in a tase for SHIELD Trooper leaving a 6v1 match-up that I like a lot. GR kills off my Ultron minions but is barely hanging on when Ultron’s ultimate is available. Ultron finishes him off and I happily accept my 250k and 8k Gold Orb Fragment reward.
