MSF: Dread The Darkness Live Blog – Mission #6

Dread The Darkness - Mission 6

Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting the sixth mission after less than a week fighting the fifth mission and another month fighting the fourth mission. While I admitted before that this team (below) may not be an ideal team makeup for this game mode, I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.

Dread The Darkness – Mission 6

Invisible Woman (2.01m), 17.5m total enemy health

07.19.20 – After almost a month of battles on Missions 3 and 4 apiece, Mission #5 took less than a week. I am hopeful that this one will be similar. With M’Baku as my 5th member and ST sitting out, I take my team of 504k into battle where I need to beat 26 total enemies, 8 of which are on-screen to start. In addition to Invisible Woman I have to face Human Torch, two Rhinos, two Mysterios, Vision and Scarlet Witch, the latter of which is my primary target. As expected, IW’s barrier is going to be a pain in the butt as I was able to land 2-3 hits before she started messing things up for me. It did not take long for things to go wrong, and in the end I was only able to do about 500k of damage.

07.20.20 – Wow, I do not even get to take a turn and BP is dead and Dark Phoenix has been summoned. The Phoenix Zap does some damage but Scarlet Witch heals and I get two other basic attacks in and I am dead leaving 15.19m or 17.50m health with the enemies.

07.21.20 – In today’s edition of the Phoenix Zap Daily I look to finally kill off an enemy on the 6th Mission of the Dark Dimension III. That is made more difficult by Human Torch’s opening attack that kills Ultron and causes his revive to trigger before I even get a turn. However this charges BP and his ultimate knocks Scarlet Witch into red health. Phoenix puts the team under stealth, Namor uses his AoE and then the attacks come. I kill off Scarlet Witch when Phoenix summons her darker side, and her second zap kills Human Torch and leaves the enemies all in red health. Now 24 of 26 remaining and all 6 in red health, I take out Invisible Woman next. Dark Phoenix cleans up the mess and now two red health Rhinos and leftover Mysterios remain. BP cleans up the weak enemies and reinforcements arrive and wipe me out fast. Tomorrow I will have 18 enemies remaining with 12.17m health to go.

07.22.20 – I added the T4 on M’Baku’s Call of the Mountain special, and while that will probably not help me a ton in these battles, it brings his power up to 104,029. Now checking in at 508,998 I enter the battle with a new group of 6 enemies on-screen to deal with. Scarlet Witch is my focus and while the enemies are tearing me apart, the Phoenix Zap, a basic from Ultron and Namor and finally the special attack from M’Baku re enough to eliminate her and leave me feeling good about the fight. 17 enemies remain when I am wiped out, and they have 10.42m health left, but removing the healer has me feeling good about the battle.

07.23.20 – A fortunate pull in a Premium Orb meant that I now have a 7-star Minn-erva a few days early as I was on pace to get her there with the July 2020 monthly shards rewarded in the MSF monthly login calendar. The added survivability alone will make this upgrade more valuable in the Dark Dimension III, however I do not expect a noticeable impact on my battles. The other change is I now have Scientist Supreme at Gear 14 and since she is also a Global character, I am deciding on how to use her in DD3. While I like the idea of M’Baku on this team, SS is faster and has a much more impactful unique, and since neither have much offense I feel like the chance to revive and place debuffs will be more helpful.

Now with Phoenix, Black Panther, Namor, Scientist Supreme and Ultron as my starting five, I enter battle with 485k power against 17 enemies in total and 5 on-screen. Shocker is the first that I can kill off and reinforcements arrive when that happens with Vision, Rhino and Invisible Woman joining the party. I start on IW immediately to try and eliminate the heal/barrier ability from the battle, and have her around 40% health when the barrier goes up. The Phoenix zap kills Green Goblin, but the barrier will be too thick for other attacks to make a dent today. I use only basics until my characters die out with 15 enemies remaining who have a total of 8.26m health.

07.27.20 – Oops. A busy few days and a forgetful one and I have missed 3 days of attacks. I am not too happy with myself here, but nothing I an do about it now. Hopefully the Phoenix zap will do me well today…

My 485k team heads into battle opposite 15 total enemies, 6 on-screen. I decide not to have Phoenix stealth her teammates and instead opt for an attack, and while I will never know what might have been, the end result is pretty solid. It all happened quite fast but tomorrow I will face 11 enemies after the Phoenix zap killed 4 weakened enemies with those 11 having 6.81m health.

07.28.20 – Today the battle begins with 11 enemies to kill and 7 on-screen. Scarlet Witch is among the bad guys, so BP slows her down with his basic to start, and the only other attacks I get in are the Phoenix zaps before they wipe me out. Tomorrow will see two enemies in red health, Vision and Rhino, with Scarlet Witch ready to heal and 5.4m health to go.

07.29.20 – Back again with the same starting 5 and I start with a charged BP and his ultimate is available, so why not start big? BP gets Rhino and Vision down and after Phoenix does the initial zap most of the enemies are in red health. After eliminating both Rhino and Vision and Phoenix zapping again, Ultron is up with his ultimate and takes out Scarlet Witch. Reinforcements arrive and kill off all but Ultron, who gets a final turn and kills Vulture on his way out. This leaves 7 enemies with 3.66m health remaining for tomorrow where I should have a shot at finishing things off.

07.30.20 – I start with 7 enemies to beat and take several hits, losing BP before Phoenix summons her darker side. Once she does it eliminates 3, leaving Namor, Mister Fantastic and two Green Goblins who have more offensive firepower than my team can handle. Dark Phoenix gets her ultimate attack in to weaken them for tomorrow, but that is all I can do.

07.31.20 – I begin with 4 enemies to beat of the original 26, all 4 in yellow health. I go after the weakest Green Goblin and kill him off just after BP is eliminated from my team. Phoenix does her zap thing and all 3 remaining are in low red health as Namor’s special and finally Ultimus’ ultimate finish them off.
