Dread The Darkness - Mission 7

Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting the 7th mission after two weeks of fighting the 6th mission, a far cry from the month plus it took me on earlier missions. While I admitted before that this team (below) may not be an ideal team makeup for this game mode, I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.

Dread The Darkness – Mission 7

Phoenix (3.37m), 38.7m total enemy health

07.31.20 – After two weeks on Mission 6 I am starting this one off with a weakened lineup. My team of 455k, for today only, includes SHIELD Trooper, M’Baku and Scientist Supreme with full health, Namor at 70% health and Ultron at about 15% health after finishing Mission #6 minutes ago.

This battle has 38 enemies and a ton of speed as two Daredevils and Okoye basically tear my five heroes apart and I do not get a single attack in. Ouch.

08.01.20 – Facing 38 enemies I start off by losing Ultron and seeing Dark Phoenix arise before getting an attack in. At that point SS debuffs the enemies and Namor and Phoenix get attacks in but I am unable to kill anyone, only weaken them. Tomorrow I will have 38 enemies remaining, but Okoye in red health as well as Daredevil and Colossus in yellow when I face these enemies who total 34.44m health remaining.

08.02.20 – BP and Namor get hits in on Okoye to start the battle and take her out, then Dark Phoenix is summoned to put 6 of the other 7 remaining in yellow health (Phoenix has red health, but I am purposely ignoring her). However the Phoenix zap screws that strategy up and my Phoenix gets killed shortly after. Now BP is up with his ultimate available, but 3 enemies have counter and despite 4 charged I use the basic on Daredevil. Namor, in a similar situation, uses his basic to kill Daredevill off, but the enemies overwhelm my team after that, led by Dark Phoenix, leaving 36 remaining and 32.71m health to go.

08.03.20 – After a solid day yesterday I am hoping to continue to make good progress. While this battle did not go my way the first few times, I restarted and finally got a good bit of RNG. I actually have 35 enemies remaining – Dark Phoenix killed me off yesterday but also killed herself in the process. Colossus is red health and when Phoenix zaps him and summons Dark Phoenix, Colossus is one hit away from being removed and I am able to take him out. A well-timed SS debuff on the bad guys and buffs for my team lead to Black Panther and Dark Phoenix using their ultimates and thinning out the herd. BP follows up by killing Killmonger and slowing Iron Fist and the enemy BP, then reinforcements arrive. Now with 30 enemies remaining and 6 on-screen, I am able to summon Ultron’s minions, speed up my team and buff the allies as I load up attacks on Iron Fist to take him out. More reinforcements arrive, but the buffs on my team keep me moving fast and Ultron summons more help.

Now I have 28 enemies remaining and 7 on-screen with M’Baku taunting so I am working around him. This is where the wheels finally fall off – after the last round of reinforcements. Shuri heals M’Baku and that is it leaving 28.64m health.

08.04.20 – Yesterday was a great day IMO, so I am hoping to keep the momentum today, however the 7 on-screen are a tough bunch with two healers and two tanks. I am going to try to take out a healer today – we will see. While the battle does not go the way I want early offensively, Phoenix places stealth on the team and survives to reach her ultimate, so I am going to log this one either way. The first hit after her ultimate is when Namor scores the first kill, removing Shuri from the party. Then I add Ultron’s minions and buff the team to then lay 4 hits on Storm, who has 4 Charged, and I am able to kill her off as well. A few hits later I still have my team in place and kill off Iron Fist, losing Phoenix immediately afterwards. Now at 25 of 38 enemies remaining, reinforcements arrive placing 8 on-screen to fight including a bad-gal Phoenix. I try to place some damage on the tanks, but Phoenix stealths them all and I can see things falling apart despite 3 of my characters and 3 Ultron minions still alive and fighting. I try to weaken Phoenix, unsuccessfully, and will have to face her again tomorrow as my team is wiped out.

08.05.20 – 25 enemies and 24.26m health remain after back-to-back days knocking off 4m health from the enemies. My team comes in at 488k for this battle and I go right after the enemy Phoenix as I need to get her out of this battle for progress to be made tomorrow. I do not use my Phoenix to go stealth with my team her first time around and lose BP, then lay hits on the enemy Phoenix as she is a pain to kill. Ultron summons help and is killed, then my Phoenix saves the team with stealth and healing and summons her darker side. SS places debuts on the enemies and my Dark Phoenix gets to use her ultimate which summons the enemy Dark Phoenix. I am able to take out a weakened Psylocke after my Dark Phoenix ultimate with some follow-up shots as I look to place as many hits as I can to set tomorrow’s battle up. The enemies then kill me off before their Dark Phoenix even gets to her ultimate meaning she will no longer be a thorn in my side.

08.06.20 – I will start the day facing 22 enemies with 21.0m health remaining. Shuri and Killmonger are red health while Psylocke, M’Baku and JJ are about 60% health. I start off laying hits on Shuri and weaken her as all attacks are on my Phoenix. Her zap kills Shuri, then the enemies take her out in retaliation leaving 21 enemies and 4 on-screen. BP is up and charged, and while his ultimate is an option, both Psylocke and M’Baku have counter buffs so I just hit the taunting M’Baku instead. I am able to take out JJ shortly thereafter and in the end I am killed with 19 enemies remaining.

08.07.20 – 19 enemies totaling 18.59m health remain with 7 on-screen, two of which are weak – M’Baku in red and Psylocke in yellow. After a few early hits to add Slow to enemies, Phoenix summons Dark Phoenix and her zap kills the weaker two and we’re down to 17, Colossus and M’Baku are taunting so my hits are going nowhere, but SS places debuffs on all, Ultron summons his buddies and Dark Phoenix is up with her ultimate up and Defense Down on 7 of the 8 on-screen. That attack does well, but not well enough, as the enemies retaliate forcefully and it is ended on the enemy BP’s ultimate.

08.08.20 – 17 enemies with 15.64m health remain as I start this battle. 8 enemies are on-screen with Storm and Colossus in yellow health and the rest are green. I start this battle a few times to see how it will go and decide that I do not like any of the scenarios. My best situation ends up where BP uses his ultimate and I slow Storm then place hits in Shuri. Phoenix gets killed and summons Dark Phoenix, who zaps Storm dead and weakens the rest, then I get torn apart to end it.

08.09.20 – 16 enemies and 13.57m health await this battle which begins with 7 enemies on-screen, 5 of which are in yellow health. I immediately go after Shuri as her healing and value to any team is high IMO. The Phoenix summon zap gets Shuri and BP to red, then the next Phoenix zap kills Shuri and adds M’Baku and Colossus to the red health enemies allowing my Dark Phoenix to use her ultimate on the 6 on-screen enemies. This kills their BP and adds reinforcements in two Daredevils and a Phoenix, making 8 enemies on-screen. Namor’s ultimate kills M’Baku and Ultron kills off one of the two Killmongers prompting more reinforcements. Now 8 enemies are on screen and just 11 remain. The enemy Phoenix stealths her teammates and I look to place hits on her for tomorrow, but I am killed off rather quickly at this point leaving 11 enemies with 9.87m health to go.

08.10.20 – My team heads into battle at 488k power and is facing 11 enemies, 7 of which are on-screen. Killmonger is in red health and JJ in yellow, so killing them and getting Phoenix to go Dark are the keys.

Killmonger goes down early when Dark Phoenix is summoned for my team and her zap takes him and JJ out. I get some hits on their Phoenix but Colossus taunts. Luckily BP gets an ultimate in and now Dark Phoenix gets her ultimate for me as well. This ends up being my last attack of the battle as their Phoenix goes Dark and I weaken their team, but only to set tomorrow’s battle up. Tomorrow I will have 8 enemies left and 6.17m health to fight off.

08.11.20 – 8 enemies and 6.17m health to go and I start the battle facing 6 enemies and they come out strong. Before I can take a turn BP is dead, Ultron revived and Dark Phoenix is zapping. He zap takes out one of the two Daredevils so I am going to go with this attack – I think. My team gets taken apart one-by-one and the final two enemies appear – JJ and Storm – but I decide to stick with it given my (probable) last attack with my final team member alive is Dark Phoenix with her ultimate. The attack does not kill anyone, but it does significant damage before they kill her off.

08.12.20 – This battle will take place as I face the final 7 enemies who have 3.56m health remaining. My goal today is to set up tomorrow for victory as 6 of the final 7 are on-screen with 3 in red health. I take out the enemy Daredevil with my BP and then their BP kills Ultron and summons Dark Phoenix. The Phoenix zap proves effective killing both Colossus enemies, and I am down to four but lose Dark Phoenix. My BP and Namor team up to kill the enemy Black Panther, but then the charged Storm enemies finish me off. Tomorrow I will have two Storms and a Jessica Jones with a total of 1.53m health remaining.

08.13.20 – Today is the day I finish off this battle. One Storm is already in red health so I go after her and eliminate the threat right away to give me a 5 vs 2. I focus my efforts on the remaining Storm and lose SS just before I kill her off, leaving just JJ against me. a 4 vs 1 is not a fair battle and I finish her off to move on. Just as I get to the reward screen the game crashes so I am hopeful that I actually got the rewards.
