MSF: Dread The Darkness Live Blog – Mission #9

Dread The Darkness - Mission 9

Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting the 9th mission after more than 3 weeks of fighting the 8th missions. While I have admitted before that this team (below) may not be an ideal team makeup for this game mode, this node requires Cosmic characters which I am thin on. Below I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.

My Dread The Darkness eligible Cosmic characters:

  • Captain Marvel – 104,741 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Abilities Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 5 Red Stars
  • Minn-erva – 109,161, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 6 Red Stars
  • Black Bolt – 97,011 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 6 Stars, 7 Red Stars

Dread The Darkness – Mission 9

Cyclops (960.9k power), 3.9894m total enemy health

09.06.20 – 15 enemies face me as I focus all efforts and removing Phoenix as quickly as possible.

09.07.20 – With Phoenix entering at less than 40% health, I continue to focus attacks on her. One hit from CM and she is in the red, but CM is dead several attacks later. ME adds a basic and had Phoenix in low red health, but cannot kills her before ME is bombarded with attacks to end the turn.

09.09.20 – After focusing on getting Black Bolt to Gear 14 so much yesterday, I failed to even fight with my two Cosmic ladies. Today, they have a newly-added Black Bolt at Gear 14, 6-stars, 5 red stars, all abilities maxed and 97,011 power.

My 3 enter battle with 310,913 power and after a single attack on Cyclops I take 10+ hits and realize that Black Bolt alone if not going to be that helpful. I do get one attack in after that as Minn-erva forces Phoenix to summon Dark Phoenix, thus making tomorrow much, much easier to deal with.

09.10.20 – While I am only a few days away from adding Invisible Woman, I am going to have to tough it out at least through the weekend before she joins the team. With my 3 back in action I got one CM hit on Cyclops before they unloaded. ME drained the 9 remaining on-screen of some of their health and BB removed a taunt from Captain America before a CM ultimate targeted their Cyclops and surprisingly was enough to kill him off. After several more attacks from the enemies, Black Bolt followed with a special that killed Mysterio and then I was able to get a couple of hits on one of the two Storms before the battle ended for the day. The enemies have 2.46m health remaining as I look ahead knowing tomorrow may be a day I cannot attack due to my real life schedule.

09.11.20 – Back again after a successful battle yesterday. CM stars it off taking out one of the two Phoenix enemies before BB and ME land hits on the taunting Captain Americas. CM dispels the taunt on the second Cap allowing ME to use her basic on the remaining Storm, which is followed by BB’s non-turn based attack. BB is then up with his ultimate, which will get countered by both Psylockes and Wolverine, but the impact should kill Storm and badly hurt the two Captain Americas, both in yellow health. The attack kills Storm and both Caps are in red as the enemies land several attacks but cannot kills my characters. CM’s basic kills one Cap, and a ME basic lands on the other leaving him at low red health, but the enemies gang up on me and finish me off. 1.81m health remains as I look to continue the momentum tomorrow with hopes of adding Invisible Woman by Monday.

09.13.20 – After missing out on this yesterday, I come back for another round, with Invisible Woman likely another 2-3 days out from joining as I am not willing to spend to get the final 100 or so orange catalysts needed. I enter with 1.81m health remaining on the 9 enemies left, all of which are on-screen to start. I do have a Captain America in red health against me, as well as two Psylockes in yellow. I kill Cap right away and land a couple of hits on Cyclops, who uses his AoE afterwards and this spells the beginning of the end. I cannot get another hit in as the enemies get 10+ consecutive attacks and while I took out Cap and have just 8 enemies left, they now have more health, 1.86m, than when I started…

09.14.20 – Starting with 8 enemies to beat and 1.86m health, I place CM’s ultimate on Star-Lord to begin in hopes of removing his ability energy passing to his teammates for future battles. While this reduces him to yellow health, Groot is taunting by the time ME takes a turn and she and BB use basics, the latter of which dispels the taunt. After several hits CM is dead and Minn-erva uses her revive, but I do not get another attack in anyway, and the revive was wasted. With 8 enemies still to beat, at least I whittled down their health to 1.50m heading into tomorrow.

09.16.20 – With 8 of 15 enemies remaining I bring reinforcements to the battle with Invisible Woman now at Gear 14 (4-red stars). The 3 enemies that start the battle are joined by 5 more as I face all 8 remaining at once. Star-Lord is the target and I am able to take him out early and shift focus to offensive enemies Rocket Raccoon and Cyclops. The two Psylockes are up next as I am able to churn through the enemies now with the added survivability provided by Invisible Woman. The final three are Storm, followed by an accidental defeat of Groot before Wolverine to get the win. 250k gold and 8k gold orb fragments are the reward.
