Welcome to the Best Mods for Sith Trooper, the latest article in our series about Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes where we take a look at the best mods for individual characters. While I do not claim to have all of the answers in this game, I do my research and have used every toon I write about extensively. These are mod recommendations based on the character’s kit and actual gameplay to help you in your quest to dominate the Galaxy of Heroes holotables.

SWGoH - Red Sith TrooperToday’s hero to review mods for will be the new Sith Trooper, a Dark Side Attacker who was added to SWGoH just before the debut of The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019. Please do not get this Sith Trooper confused with the now renamed Sith Empire Trooper, the Old Republic character who pairs well with Darth Revan, as that Sith Trooper has only had that name for a decade dating back to Knights of the Old Republic… The difference is that this new Sith Trooper, aka “Tomato” is all red and has both the Sith and First Order faction tags, and since he was a piece of the new movie, we must “let the past die.” Anyway, let’s take a look at how we want to mod the (First Order) Sith Trooper below.

Main Focus: Critical Damage is key to Sith Trooper’s effectiveness given the (hopeful) steady stream of Advantage buffs on him and his (likely) First Order teammates, so I definitely recommend using a Critical Damage set. Used under a Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, General Hux or Kylo Ren (Unmasked) lead and you will see this enhanced even more as each leadership enhances Critical Damage. That having been said make sure to have solid Speed secondaries as Sith Trooper’s ability to cleanse with the Resurgent Power special is not to be underestimated.

Additional Areas to Focus: Offense, Speed, Tenacity and survivability. Offense from the secondary mod stats is only going to help bolster his attacks. While the red Sith Trooper is going to rely heavily on critical hits from the Advantage buff, having more Offense will only benefit you, especially under a General Hux lead where the basic attacks of First Order allies deal 50% more damage. Speed from the secondary stats cannot be underestimated. You want to get to Sith Trooper’s turn more quickly and top-tier First Order teams under a SLKR lead are more effective with a Sith Trooper at 240 Speed or higher. Tenacity will help avoid the Ability Block and Buff Immunity that can derail Sith Trooper’s ability to cleanse and pass out Advantage buffs so boosting this is a good idea, especially given the importance of landing Ability Block on him for top counter teams. Finally survivability is a definite area to review as you will need to determine if you want to keep him alive longer and possibly sacrifice some Offense, or beef up the Offense and risk him being squishy.

In-game Mod Recommendations: Critical Damage & Tenacity. I feel like the devs nailed it on how they recommended the mods for the red Sith Trooper. You have to have and keep Advantage for First Order teams to maximize their effectiveness, so Tenacity on Sith Trooper will be important. But the Critical Damage is needed to ensure he maximizes his offensive effectiveness, so this is key.

Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH the red Sith Trooper:

I am choosing to go with a set of 4 Critical Damage mods and 2 Tenacity mods to gain as much as possible in these two areas. I have been fortunate enough to have been stockpiling great mods for years now (yeah, that sounds weird) and immediately found two awesome Tenacity mods with mid-range Speed enhancements and high Tenacity in the secondary stats. Because of these high Tenacity secondary stats I am able to now go for more Offense from the plus/cross mod, so here is my preferred mod setup options for the (First Order) Sith Trooper:

  • Transmitter (Square) – Tenacity mod with offense primary and a secondary focus on speed, offense, tenacity and health/protection/defense
  • Receiver (Arrow) – Critical Damage mod with speed primary and a secondary focus on tenacity, offense and health/protection/defense
  • Processor (Diamond) – Tenacity mod with defense primary and a secondary focus on speed, offense, tenacity and defense
  • Holo-Array (Triangle) – Critical Damage mod with critical damage or offense primary and a secondary focus on offense, tenacity, speed and health/protection/defense
  • Data-Bus (Circle) – Critical Damage mod with protection primary and a secondary focus on speed, offense, tenacity and health/protection/defense
  • Multiplexer (Plus) – Critical Damage mod with offense primary and a secondary focus on speed, offense, tenacity and health/protection/defense
