Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting the 10th mission after just over a week of fighting the 9th missions. I will say that the team I begin this mission with is not the ideal team for this battle which requires Cosmic characters, the addition is Invisible Woman clearly pushed my team over the top from not ready to nearly ideal. Below I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.
My Dread The Darkness eligible Cosmic characters:
- Captain Marvel – 104,741 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Abilities Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 5 Red Stars
- Minn-erva – 109,161, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 6 Red Stars
- Black Bolt – 97,011 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 6 Stars, 5 Red Stars
- Invisible Woman – 92,729 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 4 Red Stars
Dread The Darkness – Mission 10
Colossus (1.86m power), 14.473m total enemy health
09.16.20 – I start this battle with a team checking in at 397k power as I did not upgrade Invisible Woman’s first two abilities with T4 mats until after I fought. 26 enemies await me with 8 on-screen to start. As always, I start focusing n the healer given the high health pools of these characters and their extreme impact in the Dark Dimension gameplay. After killing off Scarlet Witch I target Colossus and Winter Soldier, seeking out a weaker bad guy or a highly annoying one to remove from the battle. Invisible Woman’s barrier and Minn-erva’s heal/revives are key, and keeping ME alive is the single most important item you need to know with this team makeup. After knocking off 6 enemies the attacks get to me, killing ME and eventually picking my team apart.
09.17.20 – Day 2 of this battle sees 10.17m health on the enemies, of which 20 of 26 remain. My team checks in at 403k and the battle is underway. After a few hits, and a stunned IW, Black Bolt and Minn-erva take out Black Widow, then I team up some hits allowing BB to kill off Elektra. I start to focus attacks on Carnage, to remove his debuffing abilities for the battle, and a well-timed heal from ME keeps things rolling. BB uses his Ultimate and kills Carnage, leaving 17 enemies to go. Next up are the two Visions, both already in yellow health, and I am able to remove both a few hits later while my four are looking goo with 80%+ health. I put several hits on one of two Sabertooth enemies, but a Colossus taunt slows my progress. BB dispels one Colossus taunt, but the other continues to do the same. After the taunts wear off I take out the weaker Sabertooth and then focus efforts on the other Sabertooth the reinforcements arrive. With 13 enemies remaining, I now have 8 on-screen. I start to work on Winter Soldier and get stuck hitting the two Colossus enemies again, so this time I just look to take them both out as I see I have the survivability to last in this battle. After all three are gone I go after the Sabertooth that arrived in the last batch of reinforcements and then take out Black Widow once she comes out of stealth. This leaves three Wolverines and the new reinforcements, Scarlet Witch, Colossus, Elektra, Carnage and Vision. I go after the healer first and remove Scarlet Witch, but ME is taking hits and is finally finished off. I am able to finish off Carnage as my team’s health continues to dwindle, but IW adds barrier to extend things. I take out Colossus and am still rolling as Vision is out next. This leaves 4 enemies – 3 Wolverines and Elektra. Elektra goes down first in this group thanks to AoEs and extra attacks from BB, then I allow my 3 to work on the 3 Wolverines. I lose IW rather early and find that the Wolverines and their self-heal is going to be a real problem as my BB is low on health. It turns out that I do not have the offensive firepower to finish any of the three, as BB dies next and finally Captain Marvel, fresh off a near-kill from her ultimate, is the final of my three to bite the dust and end my day. Three Wolverines and 1.48m health will be all I need to clear to advance to the 11th mission if RNG smiles fondly on me tomorrow.
09.18.20 – The goal today is to escape this battle with the win as unscathed as possible so I can get a good, solid first day on Mission #11 in. My 403k team heads into battle opposite 3 Wolverine enemies, 2 that are at full health and 1 that is about 35% (yellow) health. I take out the weakest of the 3 before the enemies take a turn and set my sites on completing the task at hand. IW’s barrier is more than enough survivability to win this with 4 heroes at full health and I collect 250k gold, 2k Mega Orb Fragments and 200 T4 Ability Mats.
