SWGoH: Best Mods for Darth Vader

Today I’ll be looking at mods for one of the hardest to obtain characters in SW:GoH, Darth Vader. Darth Vader - SWGoH - ModsOnce a powerful Jedi, Vader fell to the dark side and was a major player during the days of the Galactic Empire, playing a key role in the genocide of the Jedi Order. In SWGoH Vader’s Zeta ability, Inspiring Through Fear makes him a great leader, but even without it, he can fit into Sith and Empire squads with ease.

Main Focus: Darth Vader’s base stats are almost all in the mid-range tier, with the one glaring outlier being potency. Force Crush can inflict three damage over time effects and speed down on the opposing team, so increasing his Potency is a must. Once your Potency is high enough to reliably land the debuffs, focus on increasing Speed, to land them, and smash the enemy with Culling Blade more often. Speed has an even greater value after the Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine reworks in February 2018. With his new unique, No Escape, Vader now gains 8 Speed for each Empire or Sith ally and for each Jedi or Rebel enemy. So if used in an all-Empire squad against a team of Rebels you’re looking at a huge Speed boost.

SWGoH - Darth Vader - Best ModsAdditional Areas to Focus: Because of the mechanics of Culling Blade, a small damage increase can make a huge difference, so your secondary focus should be on Critical Chance and Offense. Health and Protection are good choices too, if you’re having trouble staying alive, but Vader has a decent amount of survivability to begin with. To hit even harder consider a triangle mod with +36% Critical Damage to further enhance things.

Ideal Mod Setup for SWGoH Darth Vader:

I find using a Potency set with Darth Vader is enough to debuff most of the time, with two Crit Chance bonuses giving a big damage boost, which can be increased further through secondary stats:

  • Transmitter (Square) – Potency/Crit Chance mod with offense primary; focusing on speed, crit chance, and offense secondaries.
  • Receiver (Arrow) – Potency/Crit Chance mod with speed primary; focusing on potency, crit chance, and offense secondaries.
  • Processor (Diamond) – Potency/Crit Chance mod with defense primary; focusing on speed, crit chance, and offense secondaries.
  • Holo-Array (Triangle) – Potency/Crit Chance mod with crit damage primary; focusing on speed, crit chance, and offense secondaries.
  • Data-Bus (Circle) – Potency/Crit Chance mod with protection primary; focusing on speed, crit chance, and offense secondaries.
  • Multiplexer (Plus) – Potency/Crit Chance mod with potency primary; focusing on speed, crit chance, and offense secondaries.

  1. Yo! These are the only thorough, sane, and non-migraine inducing character mod guides I have found in all of my experience so far. Please keep up the good work and keep churning out these character guides! Love and respect

^ This so much, I love your mod guides, they’re simple but useful asf! Please don’t stop that you have people here that really appreciate them

  2. Can you provide numbers of where the potency an speed should be for Vader or any of the characters?

    • My Vader is at 176 speed, 44.25% CC and 65% Potency and is very effective, but is not setup to be in the Arena.

  3. Great work, and thanks for updating the guide to include the Feb 2018 additions. Very helpful.

  4. Any reason why the recommended mods are not in a table? Having to click on the character link and read the recommendations is clunky (to me).

    • Well nobody has ever asked that before, so I guess that is one reason. I am not sure why it would be clunky though – it is written in paragraph form then listed with bullets. Your feedback is welcome.

  5. Hey just curious, would a crit dmg set with a crit dmg primary work. and maybe throw in another crit chance or potency set.

  6. Love the site, and the mod advice.
Not sure where to leave comments properly…
Anxiously awaiting updates to some of the toons and some of the newest toons like Bossk.

Any idea if there will be any updates including the newest toons?
