MSF: Dread The Darkness Live Blog – Mission #11

Dread The Darkness - Mission 11

Dark Dimension III: Dread The Darkness is the ultimate endgame content in Marvel Strike Force, and I begin fighting the 11th mission after just 3 days of fighting the 10th mission. This mission requires Cosmic characters, and Invisible Woman is a very important piece to this puzzle give the survivability she adds to any team. Below I am going to live blog my daily attempts as I look to defeat the Dark Dimension and earn a 5-Red Star Ultimus.

My Dread The Darkness eligible Cosmic characters:

Here are the starting stat for my Cosmic characters fighting this mission, before the release of Iso-8.

  • Captain Marvel – 104,741 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Abilities Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 5 Red Stars
  • Minn-erva – 109,161, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 6 Red Stars

Dread The Darkness – Mission 11

Green Goblin (2.34m power), 19.237m total enemy health

09.18.20 – The 11th mission has 30 enemies, and 8 on-screen to start, including the always annoying HAND Sentry who I will target to begin. An early BB ultimate helps get things going on the damage side, but with two Juggernaut enemies, the taunts go up and slow my progress down, especially when neither CM nor BB can dispel. One Juggernaut is the first to reach yellow health, so I decide to work on getting the kill as the enemies do some good work on my team.  The kill of the first Jugs heals ME a little as she is in the red, then the HAND Sentry does his dang stealth mode and makes it interesting as I try to keep her alive. A hit from one of the two Green Goblins does ME in and the end is in sight. I use only basics the rest of the way, and BB kills the HAND Sentry, but my battle ends much earlier than hoped.

09.19.20 – My second day of battles will begin with the 28 remaining enemies totaling 16.675m health. Hawkeye starts in yellow health against me and I focus on him to start, finishing him off rather quickly while I try to protect Minn-erva at all costs. Deadpool is my next target as I work around Juggernaut, and I kill him off then lose BB. ME revives him and IW stealths a red health ME to keep her alive. I kill off one Green Goblin and it heals ME to yellow and I focus on the other GG. ME is up with her in yellow and BB too, so I use her heal to drain health from the enemies, 8 of which are on-screen again. This kills the GG remaining and then IW kills Mr. Fantastic. A few enemy hits later, including a AoE from Falcon, and while my 4 characters are all still alive, all but CM are in red health. I am able to attack and kill Juggernaut to heal ME a bit, and this takes them to 5 on-screen including a HAND Sentry who has placed stealth on the others. This leads to the end as ME is killed on the next turn by Hawkeye, and while Black Bolt gets another attack in, that is all I have left, leaving 13.47m healthcares on the enemies I will face tomorrow.

09.21.20 – A busy Sunday means a missed opportunity to make progress. I am close now to adding Thanos to the Cosmic team and may have him by mid-week.

Today’s battle sees me facing 22 enemies, 5 of which are on-screen, with a total health sitting at 13.477 million. I hit the HAND Sentry once before my Captain Marvel is killed, and with Minn-erva’s revive on cool down, I am down to 3 for at least 2 turns. BB gets an AoE in but the offense from this group is brutal. A basic from IW is all I can do from there and I end the battle having down just 600k damage.

09.22.20 – After yesterday’s poor performance, I am hoping I will fare much better today. My foursome and their 403k power enter battle opposite 5 on-screen enemies and 22 total. While CM immediately takes out their HAND Sentry, the two spideys and Falcon nearly wreck my team, putting all in yellow or red health and stunning Black Bolt. While IW add barrier, I am just trying to place hits on Falcon and stay alive at the this point. I get Falcon to red health and lose CM, revive her and then trade out Falcon for Minn-erva which spells my doom. Reinforcements come and a few hits later I am done leaving 12.459m health on the remaining 20 enemies.

09.23.20 – Now 20 of 30 enemies remain and 5 are on-screen, with Hawkeye in yellow and the rest with green health. CM is up first with her ultimate so I focus on Hawkeye and get him into the red. I lose CM on the next round as Spider-Man is deadly in this battle, but ME and IW add basics on Hawkeye to kill him off. I get a couple of attacks in on Spider-Man (Miles) and then the enemies overwhelm my team in surprising fashion.

09.24.20 – These Spideys are wrecking me, so I need to take them out to keep this from being so prolonged. I start with 19 enemies and Spider-Man in green health, and CM hits him with a basic and is killed two hits later. A ME heal gets him to yellow and she gets a basic in on Spidey to get him to red before the battle is over, but I get torn apart, yet again, in this battle. Tomorrow I will continue with 19 enemies and 11.357m health to go.

09.25.20 – After multiple days of making little progress, I am hoping today is different. I start opposite 5 enemies or the 19 remaining, both Spideys in red health and Human Torch, Green Goblin and Deadpool all in green health. Spider-Man is my target as his offense in this game mode is killer. I land a CM basic on him and Human Torch’s ultimate nearly kills the entire team, only to be followed up by the finishing blows by his teammates. That sucked. 11.305m health remains…

09.26.20 – Okay, I made it far enough in this tedious Hunting Grounds to gather the Sinister Credits needed to get to the milestone with the final items needed to get Thanos to Gear 14, so I finally have a full team of 5 fighting this battle. My team now checks in at 493k and faces 19 enemies (of 30 total) with the same 5 on-screen as the past several days. CM hits Spider-Man and he is close to done, but then two attacks and Thanos is dead. Minn-erva’s basic kills Spidey and after taking a shot, IW stealths the team and then BB and CM kill off Spider-Man (Miles). Now 17 remain, but reinforcements arrive bringing it to 8 on-screen as ME revives Thanos and IW adds barrier to my team. Thanos taunts, takes a couple hits, and dies, then I start attacking Falcon and get taken apart by the enemy attacks. BB and ME survive one wave, get basic attacks in, and then die in the next wave to end today’s battle. Tomorrow I will have 17 enemies and 10.73m health to go.

09.27.20 – Starting with 10.459m health and 17 enemies remaining, my team of 493k power comes in and stinks up the place. I target Falcon to avoid more of his attacks in the future, but an ultimate from Human Torch proves deadly. I can get Falcon to yellow health and that is all as I lose and lose quickly.

09.28.20 – Starting with 10.730m health and 17 enemies remaining, my team of 493k power comes out and watches Thanos take two hits and die to start. I put two hits on Falcon, watch CM get killed in two shots, then trade attacks and watch ME die quickly. With Falcon in red health and BB with his ultimate up, I decide to use it against these 8 enemies just to get a big shot in before the battle is over. While the hit does not kill Falcon, he appears to be one shot away and it weakens the other seven for tomorrow to 9.501m health.

09.29.20 – Back for my daily butt-kicking, my five face off with 8 enemies on-screen. Falcon is in red health, Human Torch and Deadpool in yellow, and all of the rest in green. Human Torch lights things up with his ultimate to start, leaving all of my character in red or yellow health. CM kills Falcon then I lose Black Bolt on the next enemy attack. Minn-erva is up with her heal so I use it to drain health from the 7 on-screen enemies, and then the enemies get a 30:2 ratio of attacks and kill my team off. Tomorrow I will start with 16 enemies to beat and 8.627m health to go.

September 29, 2020 brought a major update to Marvel Strike Force, with the addition of Iso-8 enhancements. As a result I have been building this team first given each of these characters is quite important on my roster. Here are the updates thus far:

My Dread The Darkness eligible Cosmic characters:

  • Captain Marvel – 107,072 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Abilities Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 5 Red Stars – Skirmisher Level 1
  • Minn-erva – 110,887, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 6 Red Stars – Healer Level 1
  • Black Bolt – 99,213 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 6 Stars, 5 Red Stars – Striker Level 1
  • Invisible Woman – 93,002 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 4 Red Stars – 1 Iso-8 crystal
  • Thanos – 91,848, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-6-5 – 7 Stars, 4 Red Stars – Fortifier Level 1

09.30.20 – While I do not expect the small enhancements that have come from the Iso-8 upgrades, I am hoping for a bit more survivability to get attacks in. My team has improved from 493k to 502k, so there is at least a small improvement.

16 enemies remain and Thanos is dead before I even take a turn, so ME revives him. I land a CM attack on one of the three Human Torch enemies, and struggle to stay alive long enough to finish him off. Eventually I do after IW stealths and cleanses the team, but I am not able to get any farther. The Iso-8 enhancements are nice, but certainly not a major difference-make in DD3 at level 1.

10.01.20 – Now checking in at 504,702 power, I continue to add small Iso-8 upgrades to my team. Battling 15 enemies and seeing Deadpool in red health to start, he would normally get CM’s ultimate to start, but with two Human Torch enemies and the OP damage they do in this game mode, I target the weaker of the two and have him down to red health and Vulnerable. Before I can take another turn Human Torch and his buddies have killed all but IW and Thanos, and a IW basic is all I can add to the damage on the enemies before I am killed. Tomorrow I will continue with the same 16 enemies remaining with a total now of 8.901m health as I seem to be going backwards on that latter statistic.

10.02.20 – Again, small upgrades via Iso-8 have been made, but the details will bore you as my team is now up to 509k power. Facing 15 enemies and 7 on-screen, CM uses her basic on the weakest Human Torch to start and her AoE that comes after the attack kills him. Juggernaut taunts and after a IW basic they kill my Thanos. Unable to hit anyone else I land basics on Juggernaut and setup better attacks for tomorrow once it becomes clear that I am not getting anywhere. To add insult to injury, Juggernaut heals up after my attacks, getting him back into green health, just before I am finished for today.

10.03.20 – Now at 511k, my characters continue to get small upgrades day-to-day via Iso-8 additions. I start by finally finishing off the red health Deadpool with CM’s initial basic attack, bringing the enemy count down to 13. After BB takes a few hits he is able to survive and IW adds barrier. More attacks knock the barrier of Thanos and BB but ME is up with her heal /drain and proves quite effective. Now BB has his ultimate up too, and yesterday’s setup efforts are paying off. Green Goblin dies from the pressure of the attacks and a bleed debuff, and once I am down to 12 remaining, reinforcements arrive. Now with 8 on-screen, there is a Deadpool in red and Mister Fantastic and Juggernaut are yellow.  I trade killing Deadpool for a dead Thanos, but ME revives him and IW adds stealth to the weakest allies. I place a couple of good hits on the weaker MF but a stealth bomb from HAND Sentry messes up my plans. However Captain Marvel is up with her ultimate and given my entire five some is still alive I decide to use it now. Targeting GG it misses the weaker members who had a dodge buff on, but I survive long enough to kill MF and bring the tally to 10 enemies. I place some attacks on Human Torch and weaken him before finally getting killed off after a highly successful run. Tomorrow will see me face 10 enemies with 5.939m health remaining.

10.04.20 – A Quick battle before bed proves to be quite fast – and not in a good way. Facing 10 remaining enemies I am barely able to make any progress, only setting tomorrow up by weakening Human Torch and Juggernaut before I die.

10.05.20 – Now with 10 enemies and 5.506m health remaining, here is what my team looks like after more Iso-8 enhancements:

My Dread The Darkness eligible Cosmic characters:

  • Captain Marvel – 111,723 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Abilities Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 5 Red Stars – Skirmisher Level 3
  • Minn-erva – 116,119, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 6 Red Stars – Healer Level 3
  • Black Bolt – 104,170 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 6 Stars, 5 Red Stars – Striker Level 3
  • Invisible Woman – 98,857 power, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-7-5 – 7 Stars, 4 Red Stars – Healer Level 3
  • Thanos – 95,230, Level 75, Gear 14, Ability Levels 7-7-6-5 – 7 Stars, 4 Red Stars – Fortifier Level 2

On to the battle, my team checks in at 526k now and is facing 7 on-screen enemies. Human Torch and Juggernaut begin in read health against me, so they will be the early targets, and good RNG sees HT die immediately at the hands of a CM basic. Minn-erva drains health from all setting up Black Bolt’s ultimate and he kills the weaker Juggernaut leaving 6 enemies on-screen and 8 overall. Thanos taunts and places offense down on Green Goblin, and after a few enemy attacks the final two appear and HAND Sentry does the stealth bomb and makes this quite difficult. I lose Thanos and ME and follow that with Black Bolt killing Hawkeye. Now CM is up with her ultimate and targets HS, weakening him for tomorrow. That ends up being my final attack of the day as they crush me afterwards. Tomorrow will see me face 7 enemies and 3.090m health.

10.06.20 – Now checking in with a team of 527k with all five at level 3 for their Iso-8, I face off with the final 7 enemies and go after Mister Fantastic to start. After CM weakens him and adds vulnerable I take a few hits, add barrier to all with IW, then take more hits before Minn-erva finished him off. Next I target Green Goblin who just got to red health, and as it looks like ME is not going to make it, I kill GG with Black Bolt and heal ME up a bit. HAND Sentry is next to fall and I now have a 5 on 4 with the 4 enemies being Juggernaut, . I place some hits on Juggernaut while he does not have Defense Up, and CM adds Vulnerable.

SMM kills my ME, the first of my team to die, then CM adds Vulnerable to Spider-Man as well before a BB ultimate. Juggernaut is now red health but I am taking some hits. CM’s ultimate kills Jugs and I start focusing attacks on SM as BB is able to kill him off. Now SMM is the target and I am able to take him out leaving Deadpool. DP of course kills IW in his last stand, thenBB finishes him off. 250k gold and 8k Gold Orb Fragments are my reward.
